The Innovation & Technology Development department has a vacancy in its team for the following position:

Safety Health and Environment Officer (SHE Officer) - Innovation & Technology Development

Innovation is at the heart of the organization. The Innovation and Technology Development (I&TD) laboratory and Strain conservation unit (SCU) will start operations and a BioSHE specialist is identified as a critical position to ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance. The BioSHE officer will create and implement the Biosafety and general Safety program for the offices, laboratory and SCU, will ensure compliance with local laws for occupational safety, and will be responsible of interact with related external suppliers and government agencies.

The main activities and responsibilities

• Subject matter expert for biosafety, health and safety for offices and laboratory.
• Develop, implement and manage safety program in compliance with guidelines, policies, laws and regulations related with safety according to local and national regulations.
• Manage direct relations with health providers and contractors for training, work permits, health checks, laboratory residues etc.
• Participate in development projects as Safety and biosafety SME: prepare Job safety and Risk Assessments.
• Local Security Responsible (LSR) coordinate and promote appropriate training.
• Trains new employees on safety regulations.
• Participate in audits and third party certifications.
• Design, implementation, and maintenance of compliance plans and procedures relative to the use of pathogens based on local regulations.

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar.
• Master in occupational Safety (desirable)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as safety officer or in biosafety positions in industrial environment.
• Fluent in English and Spanish language (written and spoken).
• Previous experience in EH&S department in an industrial environment.
• Deep knowledge in Health and Safety regulation.
• Deep Knowledge of biosafety principles and regulations.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Decision making and results oriented.
• Strong communication skills.
