Role purpose


To act as a central point of contact for the in planning and execution of communication and marketing activities for the Madrid office.

To enhance and safeguard the Firm's brand and reputation via news and social media outreach and provide communications advice and support for Firm leadership.

To implement global marketing campaigns and initiatives in Madrid. To support wider business development projects through related marketing deliverables.


Main responsibilities

  • Liaise with media requests on a reactive and proactive basis as required; create and develop dialogue about the Firm and our practice and industry groups with agreed key target media (global business, national business, legal and trade media across Spain)
  • Promote agreed key spokespeople in the Firm leadership to appropriate media and provide appropriate preparation and coaching as required
  • Support in the election of the best tactic for promotion of the Firm, decide on appropriate vehicle (e.g. news release, exclusives, individual demos/meet & greets, media briefing etc), spokespeople and key messages
  • Provide issues management support, including appropriate internal communications, as required locally, working closely with the Communications Expert Function on any crisis communications
  • Write announcements and press releases on new hires and notable pieces of work
  • Work with Communications colleagues, in particular with the EMEA Communications Lead, in the development and implementation of the Firm's Communication strategy in Madrid
  • Work closely with the Global Marketing team in the roll out of the firm's thought leadership campaigns in Madrid
  • Ongoing management of the Firm's LinkedIn Account.
  • Act as a central point of contact for the marketing needs of the Madrid office from client materials to research and event planning working closely with Specialist function teams and endtoend services to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery
  • Work closely with practice groups in the development and evaluation of key business development initiatives and events ensuring efficient targeting, ROI analysis and ensure that all business opportunities are followed up on
  • Take an active role in the development of the practice group strategy to ensure BD, marketing and communications efforts are aligned

  • Colleagues across BDMC EndtoEnd functions in the Service Centers, such as Global Event Management, Creative Services, Proposal Production, Research and Communication

Technical skills, qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree desirable
  • Previous marketing and communications experience, ideally gained in the professional services sector
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail with the ability to produce clear and compelling marketing content for the Firm
  • Highly collaborative and a team player
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Proven organisation and project management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and work to deadlines
  • Enthusiastic and selfmotivated approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to deal effectively with journalists, Firm leadership, lawyers and marketing/PR colleagues
  • Experience of dealing with the media and basic tools of media relations (i.e., news releases, talking points, statement preparation, issues management, media coaching, media meet & greets etc)
  • Good understanding of social media platforms and tools, and familiar with other communications channels and technologies
  • Ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple tasks in a deadline driven role
