  • 10+ years of people management hiring, developing, and leading teams
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of the latest design concepts, emerging technologies, and other developments in the user experience field.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working across organizational boundaries to influence and deliver results.
  • Executive level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of an organization.
  • Record for driving best practices for user interface design, information architecture, and interaction design.
  • Practical knowledge of user centered design processes and lifecycles.
  • Effective delivery of strategic and tactical recommendations based on quantitative/qualitative data and established best practices.
  • Strong bias for action including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a fastpaced, dynamic environment

EU International Technology focus on accelerating the EU Stores business by developing solutions for end customers, sellers and vendors to support Amazon's flywheel.

There is an exciting opportunity for a Head of UX Design and Research to work on solutions used by millions of customers.

This role serves as the strategic design leader who will lead and build the user experience for several shopping use cases on Amazon.

You and your team of user experience designers and researchers will set the vision and deliver a convenient and engaging shopping experience that delights Amazon customers in Europe and worldwide.

You will influence across multiple partner teams, and work with product and engineering leaders across the global organization, driving mechanisms to connect those teams' work into a single, holistic, end-to-end experience for our customers.

Key job responsibilities
Is a leader of leaders, scaling the design process across multiple programs at once, in multiple geographies for multiple personas; drives a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented, opinionated team; leads with passion and convictions and has the innate ability to inspire passion in others

  • Raises the bar on design quality (never satisfied with status quo) with a team of strong design managers, but spends most of their time in the overarching portfolio's design strategy, negotiating priorities, focus, and overall clarity of solution with crossfunctional product and tech directors
  • Leads an embedded user experience team driving clarity in the definition of customer success across all major initiatives
  • Owns and drives the mechanisms used by the design team to work with multiple partners teams in order to get alignment on customer problems, product vision, and accurate priorities
  • Drives key functions to measure the health of the customer experience overall to drive necessary changes, both quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Responsible for building and maintaining healthy relationships with partners and stakeholders in locations around the world; prioritizes well based on customer need, not internal dialogue; exhibits excellent judgment and negotiates challenging issues that result in moving the product forward
  • Communicates clearly and compellingly within team, across peer groups, and upwardly to highest levels of senior leadership

  • Is a visible, driving force in the Design community at large with unique ideas about creative process, problem solving, design leadership, or similar.
