The team you'll be part of


Our IP/Optical Networks business group (ION) includes IP, optical and network automation technologies and related services sold to our communication service provider customers as well as adjacent markets including webscale companies and enterprises.

Our comprehensive wide area networking (WAN) solutions enable our customers to build and operate automated, secure, and high-performance networks at massive scale - helping to interconnect people and things from any broadband access modality to - and among - edge clouds, central clouds, the Internet, and other services and data centers.


What you will learn and contribute to
At Nokia ION we are seeking a Telecommunications Support engineer to join our team based, Madrid, Spain.


We are looking for a dynamic and flexible person with a proactive approach to perform some technical activities (troubleshooting, testing, reporting) in the Optical networks to support our well-known clients based in Spain.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer to work with cutting edge technologies within Optical World.

As a part of our team you will:

  • Plans, designs, test, execute, analyses, and reports on process improvements to gain fastest troubleshooting.
  • Reviews network problems and ensures all learning's are shared with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Develops scripts/macros to perform health checks to speed up troubleshooting efforts.
  • Provides technical guidance to avoid/minimize troubleshooting challenges.
  • Performs lab testing to simulate customer network issues in order to address the root cause analysis and identify/develop the possible work around to mitigate the issues.
  • Applies best practices and develop Troubleshooting Guides.
  • Reviews recently published Technical Notes and Change Notes to ensure fastest problem solving when encountering known problems.

Your skills and experience

  • Languages: Fluent Spanish and Advanced English
  • Network Technologies
  • DWDM
  • Networking knowledge in Optical technologies:
  • Routing Protocols: GMRE and GMPLS en L0
  • Other knowledge required:
  • Nokia Optical Equipment (1830 PSS WDM/OCS)
  • Certification required in Optics:
  • 1830 Photonic Service Switch 16/32 WDM Operations and Maintenance
  • 1830 Photonic Service Switch 36/64 OCS Operations and Maintenance
  • Soft skills:
  • Proactive
  • Very good and positive attitude
  • Teamplayer
  • Flexible (available 24/7 for emergencies rota, and to travel when required)
  • Nice to have:
  • Experience in Optics
  • Technical Support Experience
  • Scripting: Perl, Python
  • Troubleshooting: Wireshark
