    Context And Mission
  • The applicant will pursue research activities in this context as part of National and EU projects, seeking to improve the reacting flow simulation methodologies. The applicant will join the Propulsion Technologies Group (PTG), a research group of the Computer Applications in Science and Engineering (CASE) Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. Within the PTG, the applicant will form part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers with a strong background in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) applied to highfidelity simulations to develop clean propulsion and power generation systems. The PTG is actively involved in several National and European researchoriented and industrial projects for which results are disseminated in highly ranked scientific journals and conferences.
    Key Duties
  • Consolidate the current inhouse simulation workflow of turbulent reacting flow simulations.
  • Increase the flexibility, robustness, and performance of the existing tabulated chemistrybased simulation framework.
  • Refactor antiquated software and participated in the coordination and execution of general software maintenance.
  • Lead scientific and organizational activities of ongoing and future collaborative projects on energy conversion.
  • Contribute to scientific dissemination and to reporting for National and EU projects.

Requirements:


  • Education
  • Background in combustion and thermal systems is indispensable.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics, multiphase flows, multicomponent thermodynamics, and heat and mass transfer is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of tabulated chemistry models and spray modelling is also expected.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Fluency in English is essential, Spanish is welcome.

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to explain complex processes in a concise manner to various audiences.

  • The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department
