Responsibilities:

The
Director Project Management is part of the Global Project Management group within Clinical Operations, one of the functional service lines within TFS Develop.


The
Director Project Management is responsible for providing oversight to Project Managers in the day to day management activities of their projects, ensuring management support in meeting operational and financial deliverables according to customer requirements and contractual obligations.


Director Project Management will ensure projects are planned and multidisciplinary study teams (including Site Management, Data Management, Statistics, Medical Writing, Regulatory and Safety) are pro-actively managed to ensure key milestones are achieved and studies are performed within budget, on schedule and in compliance with the appropriate compliance and quality standards.


Director Project Management may also provide a leadership role on global initiatives and strategic developments within the wider TFS organization.


  • Manage the oversight of execution and conduct of clinical studies assigned to the project managers reporting into Director, Project Management
  • Provide proactive guidance and direction to assigned staff around project planning, project execution, project review, risk mitigation, problem solving and customer management to assist in service delivery and professional development
  • Line management of assigned staff within Project Management
  • Participate in Recruitment and induction of new staff with Human Resources
  • Provide technical expertise and Project Management support to project managers
  • Ensure staff are appropriately qualified and trained by providing input to training plans, coaching and mentoring of assigned staff and assisting in the delivery of training
  • Ensure project plans and timelines are created and maintained
  • Ensure project budgets are managed, profitability is maintained and invoicing is performed on time and in accordance with the scope of work
  • Ensure projects are appropriately resourced through all phases of a project
  • Participate actively in Project Review Meetings and the project review process
  • Collect and analyze delivery and performance metrics
  • Identify and escalate issues as appropriate within the organization
  • Perform annual performance reviews for assigned staff
  • Participate in proposal and budget development for new opportunities
  • May lead bid defense preparations in partnership with Business Development and Senior Operations staff
  • Participate in and /or lead global process improvement initiatives
  • May act as a key relationship manager for assigned customers
  • Close collaboration with other Global functions, such as Site Management, Data Management, Statistics, Regulatory and Safety
  • May act as Project Director in a project

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in life science or RN diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience of working on global Ophthalmology studies is required
  • In depth knowledge of clinical research regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of the clinical drug development process
  • Proven ability to work through others to deliver results to quality, time and financial metrics
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff
  • Sound judgement and decision making skills
  • Strong financial analytical
