This position resides within the Digital Strategy Section (DSS), as part of the Division of Global Communication and Advocacy (GCA).

The Digital Strategy Section manages all global digital channels and digital communications for UNICEF, including in 5 UN languages, global social media channels, and digital multimedia content creation.

The Section is also responsible for the building, management and maintenance of global web platform and website properties, including websites for Country and Regional Offices, digital governance and capacity building.


The DSS is also responsible for the build, management and maintenance of global website properties, as well as providing support to Country, Regional and Headquarters Offices to maximise their use of global web platforms in their communications activities.

This role is instrumental in ensuring UNICEF's large and globally distributed user base has access to web platforms, and is supported to use these platforms to publish high quality content that is critical to their communications work.

Purpose for the job:


Reporting to the P3 Digital Communication Specialist (Field Support and Web Builds Lead), the incumbent will support in the development and implementation of a robust and comprehensive training program for users of the Drupal content management system (CMS) and will support with technical and communication functions that also reside in this team.


Role Responsibility

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:


  • Support the design and development of a training program for new and existing users of the Drupal CMS
  • Deliver training on use of the Drupal CMS across a variety of formats
  • Increase user understanding and adoption of platform features and functionality, and web production best practices in relation to using the Drupal CMS
  • Other responsibilities, as needed

DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT:


1. Support the design and development of a training program for new and existing users of the Drupal CMS

  • Support in the design a training program to address the training needs of key user groups, including but not limited to new users and advanced/super users.
  • Assess and report on the efficacy of training curriculum; adapt training products based on platform developments and in response to user feedback, satisfaction and success.
  • Feed into Drupal web platform roadmap; identify training and/or usability issues that could be ameliorated with platform improvements/enhancements

2. Deliver training on use of the Drupal CMS across a variety of formats

  • Utilise a variety of tools and formats to deliver training, taking into consideration geographic distance, languages, and the nature of key user groups' relationship to, and use of the platform.
  • Maintain and continue developing a suite of training ecourses that address the needs of trainees and increase awareness and adoption of features across the Drupal CMS.
  • Periodically audit and update/develop all ecourses to ensure they reflect current platform functionality and are in line with current best practices in elearning and instructional design.
  • Manage and optimise the workflows the facilitate users' progress through training courses; socialise these workflows as needed.

3. Increase user understanding and adoption of platform features and functionality, and web production best practices in relation to using the Drupal CMS.

  • Develop and maintain resources and initiatives to improve use of the platform's features and functionality, including managing and maintaining the internal Drupal user knowledge base.
  • Improve user base knowledge and adoption of the features and functionality available on the platform, and understanding of what to use when.
  • Ensure user base is informed of important platformrelated developments and maintenance announcements.
  • Communicate with Drupal user base in relation to deployments, CMS downtime and upcoming features/functionality to support effective and smooth introduction of new platform features.

4. Other responsibilities, as needed

  • Make highquality production updates to content as required, including formatting text, placing video, optimizing images and other media; work in line with UNICEF's style guide and maintaining brand standards;
