Description:

Manufacturing and Integration Processes Engineer, for either rocket or auxiliary structures within Ground Operations department at PLD Space


Responsibilities:


  • Development, implementation, and optimization of assembly/manufacturing procedures for rocket engine systems and rocket sections: assembly manuals, work orders, postassembly inspections and reports... Continuous improvement of assembly processes (based on lessons learned) to bring products from prototype to highvolume production.
  • Collaboration with workshop staff on assembly/manufacturing of aerospace structures, rocket engines, fluid or electrical systems. Control and validation of assembly or manufacturing processes (machining, drilling operations, reaming, countersinking, mechanical joints by means of fasteners, bolts and screws, sealing) of aerospace primary structure (mainly metallic and composite parts) and secondary structure (rigid pipes, valves, metallic supports and brackets, electrical and avionics equipment and harness).
  • Technical support and problem solving during manufacturing/assembly procedures.
  • Concurrent engineering with Design and Supply Chain departments, evolving our designs to improve process quality and manufacturing/assembly easiness. Then implement in a rapidlyevolving production environment.
  • Collaboration with design and manufacturing of tooling and support equipment to facilitate hardware assembly/manufacturing.
  • Production Control to meet the Program deadlines and milestones.
  • Attention to detail and establishment of a highly structured integration and manufacturing environment.
  • Quickly resolve nonconformances and work with the Quality team to implement root cause corrective actions.

Required competences:


  • High level in both written and spoken English and Spanish.
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering or another relevant field.
  • Between +2 year and 10 years of experience with assembly, integration or manufacturing of complex, multidisciplinary systems in aerospace, aviation, automotive or similar qualityoriented industries.
  • Experience with the following: production planning and process definition, assembly/manufacturing documentation and reports creation, process traceability and quality control according to standards.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical or electrical design and assembly, including working knowledge of GD&T and design considerations.
  • Full proficiency in MS office tools expected.
  • Experience with CAD software (NX desired), 3D models and 2D engineering drawings.
  • Experience with ERP systems, work order creation/management, and BOM structures.
  • Experience with PLD systems (TeamCenter desired), as Product Structure Management tool.
  • Ability to learn, lead others, and help others learn while maintaining high performance level.
  • Desire to work handson, both independently and as part of a team.

Valued competences:


  • Experience with process development from R&D to highvolume manufacturing.
  • Handson project and manufacturing or assembly experience with structures, mechanical, electrical or/and high pressure fluid systems.
  • Desired experience with orbital launch systems and or launch vehicles, or flight production projects or programs.
  • Experience in full lifecycle development of aerospace systems.
  • Team or Project leadership experience in an aerospace development environment or similar.

  • Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
