    Established in 2005, IRB Barcelona is a centre of excellence that was awarded the Severo Ochoa distinction in 2011.

    The institute focuses on conducting research of excellence in biomedicine and applying its findings to improve people's quality of life. It aims to train exceptional researchers, facilitate technology transfer, and promote public awareness of science.

    The centre has 29 laboratories and seven core facilities, addressing fundamental questions in biology related to diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, and rare conditions.

    IRB Barcelona is an international hub with over 500 members from more than 45 nationalities.

    We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join Dr. Stefanie Wculek's lab. The successful candidate will work on projects investigating how innate immune cells adapt to different tissues, including changes in their immunometabolism.

    The position is funded by the ERC Starting Grant project "Studying the metabolism and function of myeloid dendritic cells and neutrophils in distinct tissues in health and aging (MyTissue)".

    Duties:

    • Lead and organize projects within the group's scientific scope in collaboration with the PI.
    • Conduct high-quality research with other team members.
    • Participate and report results in group meetings and scientific discussions.
    • Engage in the training of junior scientists in the research group.
    • Write manuscripts together with the PI.

    Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

    Must Have - Required

    • Education: PhD in biomedicine or biosciences, ideally completed within no more than 2 years.
    • Skills:
      • Highly motivated and collaborative, with enthusiasm for leading conceptually and technically challenging research projects.
      • Fluency in written and spoken English.
      • Organized, responsible, and creative.

    Desirable

    • Experience: Research on innate immune cells and/or cellular metabolism, supervision of students or technicians, coordination of collaborative research efforts.
    • Knowledge: Flow Cytometry and sorting, Mouse models, Primary human tissue and cell culture, Bioinformatics tools for analysis of gene expression, Molecular biology techniques including cloning and CRISPR.
