About the Role:


An opportunity has arisen for a Director of Engineering position to join our Engineering & Maintenance Department in Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa.


The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

  • Closely supervise all engineering personnel
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive preventative maintenance programme for hotel's equipment ensuring keeping of proper records
  • Coordinating and, if requested, supervising projects and outside contractors
  • Advising management on potential improvements
  • Assisting stores with suggestions for economic purchases of parts and consumables and writing clear requests for the items
  • In cooperation with security ensuring compliance with relevant legislation pertaining to COSHH, fire safety, etc.
  • Controlling and closely monitoring utility consumption throughout the hotel
  • Observing energy efficiency, suggesting replacement for inefficient equipment and reporting all energy wastage to the management
  • Assuming full charge of building, guestrooms and public areas maintenance
  • Establishing a regular planned guestroom servicing programme in accordance with company standards
  • Implementing all company life safety procedures
  • Assuming responsibility for alarm systems and firefighting equipment
  • Assisting in building an efficient team by taking interest in their welfare, safety and development
  • Assisting in training employees while ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their duties efficiently
  • Ensuring all employees understand and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations, especially regarding fire, hygiene, health and safety
  • Taking responsibility for the smooth function of the department's administration and maintenance of an efficient filing system
  • Making sure all documents within the department are up to date, records are maintained correctly, updated and filed
  • Assuming full responsibility for preparation and punctual submission of reports
  • Maintaining a comprehensive library of manuals, part's lists of all operational equipment and a complete set of uptodate drawings of all areas and systems
  • Assuming responsibility for the costeffective operation of the department
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual revised budget with the financial controller and management
  • Recording and monitoring all budget expenditures to ensure that the budget is adhered to, cost is strictly controlled, and approval is sought prior to expenditure
  • Allocating and countersigning all invoices chargeable to the maintenance budget before being processed and charged
  • Establishing an efficient system for the control and verification of all deliveries to the premises pertaining to the department's operation
  • Complying with local legislation and acting in accordance with any union agreement relating to the maintenance department

About you:


Qualification

  • Bachelor of engineering

Experience

  • Minimum 5years experience in civil works and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing
  • 3 years experience in a similar position

Skills

  • Motivated and Organized
  • Very good level of English and Spanish
  • Able to multitask
