It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads largescale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 900 staff from 55 countries.

    Context And MissionKey Duties*
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate agreements for various noncommercial partnerships, including grants, collaboration agreements and consortium agreements, nondisclosure agreements. Review, draft, and negotiate research contracts, master services agreements, framework agreements and similar documents.
  • Provide advice on administrative law, including grants, collaboration agreements, public procurement law and science law.
  • Offer legal counsel and guidance on intellectual property matters such as open source, data mining, artificial intelligence, trade secrets, academic and commercial licenses, as well as Creative Commons licenses.
  • Draft internal guidelines policies and create procedures and process efficiencies. Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Advise the different departments on legal queries as needed, including summarising and communicating legal concepts and helping assess different levels of legal risk.
  • Conduct seminars and trainings on administrative and IP law.
  • Advice on personal data and data sharing. And other legal tasks requested by the General Counsel as needed.

Requirements:


  • Education
  • Degree in Law
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • 1 2 years of experience as a practicing lawyer in a similar role.
  • Fluency in English, Spanish, and Catalan is essential (both speaking and writing).
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft office and Power Point.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Prior inhouse experience at a public scientific organization, research development organization or technology industry is preferred. Public sector experience is also desirable.
  • Competences
  • You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to nonlegal personnel.
  • You are very organised, accustomed to working at a fast pace and juggling many different tasks. You are able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. You are proactive, taking the initiative when needed. You enjoy operating independently but love being part of a collaborative team.
    Conditions
  • The position will be located at BSC within the Management Department
  • We offer a fulltime contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with stateoftheart infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Openended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
  • Starting date: March/April 2024
