About you

Requirements and

Technical Knowledge:
_

Bachelor degree, with MBA preferred.
2 to 5 years of professional experience in ESG for the financial sector (bank or asset management), CSR department in corporates, ESG rating agency or SPO providers, international initiatives like CDP, TPI, SBTi, TCFD, GRI, UN Global Compact, or strategic consultancy firms with a strong focus on ESG (big four or similar).
Prior experience in an ESG Research department with a strong sector focus (from sell or buy side), a Corporate Sustainability department or consulting firm with an ESG focus is an advantage.
Solid understanding of ESG business drivers and KPIs.
Solid understanding of ESG trends, concepts, regulation, ratings, taxonomies, reporting initiatives,
Detailed understanding of ESG Ratings methodologies, Climate Performance Measurement SDGs and ways to measure the impact of a business in them.
Good understanding of sustainable finance products, bonds, loans, sustainable finance frameworks, etc.
Indepth knowledge of key ESG issues in the automotive, infrastructure, oil & gas, transportation and steel sectors will be an asset (corporate or M&A experience in these sectors related to ESG issues will be an advantage).
Corporate or M&A experience in these sectors related to ESG issues will be an advantage.
Experience providing ESG advice to pension funds, private equity firms, infrastructure funds and development finance institutions will also be an advantage.
Strong proficiency into Microsoft tools (Power Point, Excel), financials and ESG data base use (MSCI, Sustainalytics, CDP, Bloomberg etc).
Languages:_
English level: C1, fluency in Spanish preferred

SG Advisory is part of the Global Advisory team inside the Investment Banking & Finance Area at BBVA CIB.

Global Advisory provides the following investment banking services to CIB clients:
Merger & Acquisitions (M&A), Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Debt advisory and more recently ESG Advisory.

With ESG Advisory, we aspire to make one of the Strategic Priorities of the BBVA Group a reality: to help our client's transition to a more sustainable future.

This service with a global reach is focused on elevating the dialog with clients around Sustainability, with a particular emphasis on the transition towards a low carbon economy.

About the job

The day to day of this role will be to prepare client interactions and run presentations in front of clients based on the following services offered to corporate clients, in several sectors:

Strategic Review:

review strategic drivers of ESG performance per sector, compare competitive positioning of companies within their sector and advise on the next decisions, investments and actions to ensure progress in their sustainability journey or decarbonisation trajectory.

Bespoke ESG Advisory: help clients achieve strong sustainability standards while providing access to sustainable financing solutions. Position BBVA as the bank of reference for Sustainability related issues. Enable advised companies to reach best in class ESG performance, improving their positioning for investors (be eligible in sustainable finance strategies). Focus on innovative approaches and solutions through emerging ESG topics or innovative financial solutions through debt and equity.
Climate Transition /

Net Zero Advisory:
help CIB clients' to decarbonise and reach net zero goals (combining emissions reductions, carbon capture and offsetting).

Engagement and advisory on the definition of a strategic roadmap:

Push for emissions calculation and disclosure (scope 1+2 and 3 when possible/relevant).
Set decarbonisation targets (ideally science based, traceable and measurable with long term goals and intermediate deadlines). Define offsetting for residual emissions.
Strategy building (action plan with specific measures and credible milestones).
Define a clear governance (strong leadership, vertical integration and accountability).
Clear disclosure and communication.
ESG

Ratings Advisory:

provide expertise and mastering of ESG Ratings methodologies to clients, help clients understand the way they are analyzed and rated by ESG Rating Agencies and thus how they are viewed by investors.
