About British Council -

British Council has been delivering English courses to adults and young learners from its current premises in Deusto, Bilbao, for 20 years after moving from premises in central Bilbao.

The centre offers a full range of English courses for learners from the age of 3 upwards, including exam preparation courses and teacher training courses.

The Basque region is a dynamic and vibrant context with strong demand for English.

Our teaching centre delivers courses to young learners aged 3-17 as well as adults during the academic year as well as in the summer.

Much of the teaching takes place on the 15-classroom BC premises and in 9 classrooms rented from an educational institution in the same building at peak times.

A significant proportion also takes place off-site in partner premises, including Early Years and Primary teaching.

ELT activity is only one strand of a presence which also delivers over 9,000 UK exams as well as specialist teacher training annually, the latter mainly to the public sector though our Teacher Development Unit (TDU).

ELT activity is managed by a Teaching Operations Manager, two Senior Teachers and two coordinators and supported by a customer services team of 5, as well as financial and administrative management and support roles.

There are currently over 30 teachers in the teaching team delivering around 15,000 hours of classes each year.
