LSP Renewables have partnered with a international Solar PV market leader and top project developer to recruit a Risk & Investment Specialist in Madrid, to support the entire investment cycle process in all stages of development, financing, construction, operation and exit.

Our client are a very successful developer with more than 27GW in their pipeline globally and 1300MW under construction. They are active across EMEA, US, LATAM, and Asia with their projects and are growing significantly across Europe.

They will be responsible for leading the work with key internal and external business partners across the EMEA region (and other regions like US, as the case may be), using a strong collaborative approach, to analyze, assess, and provide sound recommendations to support the Investment Committee's decision-making across the EMEA region. The position will also be responsible for supervising and training junior resource(s) within the Risk & Investment Management department.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct indepth and timely risk investment appraisal and solutiondrive recommendations on new project opportunities for Investment Committee's review, with the support of the Analyst. It includes a detailed assessment of the overall project investment feasibility, evaluating the risk & return profile while implementing practical risk mitigating solutions.
  • Define, implement and continuously improve a framework made by bestinclass methodologies, processes and tools to establish effective projects risk management practices during the whole project life cycle (e.g., checklist and risk register, root cause analysis and lesson learnt database).
  • Perform investment risk appraisal analysis, to work closely with the Business Development and specialized departments including EPC and O&M, Energy & Asset Management, Legal, Tax, Compliance, Project Finance and M&A. It includes a detailed review of the Due Diligence reports, project assumptions used in the financial models and other relevant project documents, aiming to create and update the project risk register.
  • The risk and investment feasibility analysis would include the assessment of the country, regulatory risks, permitting risks, financing, engineering & construction and storage risks, PPA and offtaker risks, ESG, operational risks, ancillary services and exitsale risks.
  • Perform financial modelling analysis including running sensitivity analysis and working with the project teams to confirm the suitable base case scenario.
  • Perform country risk analysis for new target countries, while monitoring country risk status of existing countries.
  • Postapproval monitor and followup on the project's progress including compliance with the approval conditions.
  • Lead initiatives aimed to strengthen risk culture among the different teams, providing training courses with focus on guidelines and experiences (lessons learnt and root cause analysis).

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Finance or Engineering required.
  • 24 years of work experience in project risk management within the renewables landscape. Previous experience in project financing and operations can also be considered.
  • Proven experience in energy project investments (solar would be an advantage), and/or project development, financing & operations.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal, research and report written skills with excellent coordination and cooperation skills; a team player who is willing and able to work with others to solve problems and share knowledge.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously.
  • Fluent in English any other European language would be a huge advantage.
