Job Description Summary:

GE Renewable Energy is one of the world's leading offshore wind energy companies, with a portfolio of offshore wind turbines ranging from 6 MW to 14 MW that offer increased value to customers with proven performance, reliability, efficiency and availability.


The Electrical Systems engineer will provide technical leadership and system expertise on electrical systems to improve installed wind turbine fleet and meet customer requirements.

You will act on all phases of product development, from requirements to development and validation.


You will be responsible for Electrical system conceptual design & design strategy, system level trade-offs, manage interfaces and ensure proper integration of different electrical subsystems.

You contribute to design guidelines in order to continuously improve the product development and quality.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conducts electrical components integration and interfaces. All activities that span multiple electrical components and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.
  • Manages product and electrical systems requirements, specifications and flow down.
  • Owns responsibility of systems or tasks that require integration across different components or subsystems, such as:
  • electrical safety strategy definition and subsequent improvements
- arc flash calculations
- electrical protections and coordination studies
- electrical equipments preservation
- sensoring strategy and overall controls I/Os owner
- interlocking strategies owner

  • LOTO strategy owner for engineering
  • Owns electrical systems such as CMS, weather station,
  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system (from electrical perspective), including system level testing.
  • Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components.
  • Provides technical leadership on electrical design, participates to or establishes design guidelines and best practices and reviews electrical detail design & changes from a system perspective and according to GE design practices.
  • Responsible for complex assignments and RCAs with longterm business implications, impacting the products' technical success.
  • Promote design for reliability and ensure the return of experience to the new product introduction
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical material to internal and external audiences

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in Engineering
  • Major experience of demonstrated experience working on electrical systems related projects, issues and/or technologies.

  • System or productlevel mindset and experience in engineering product development processes.
  • Ability to breakdown complex issues, determine possible courses of action, and enable effective decision making
  • Field issues, test and/or validation experience
  • Effective problem identification and solving ability (RCA).
  • Highly knowledgeable on Electrical Auxiliaries (Power Supply & UPS, Electrical Cabinets, Instrumentation, Arc Flash Guard System, Fire Protection System, Lightning & Grounding System,, Vibration Monitoring System,) and communication network
  • Strong technical aptitude, interpersonal skills, leading and influencing skills and a positive energy
  • Experience in wind Turbine Certification Processes and standards (IEC, CSA, ISO, CE, CCC, DIN, IEEE, NFPA, ULs)
