    The Director of Scientific Communications, Nephrology oversees the development and execution of global communication strategies, publication plans, and medical education initiatives in the Nephrology therapeutic areas, aligning with the Alexion brand and corporate strategies. This role involves leading the Nephrology TA Global Publication Team and collaborating with various departments such as research, clinical development, marketing, medical affairs, and biostatistics. Building relationships with external investigators, thought leaders, and authors is essential to drive publication plans effectively, resulting in high-quality scientific and clinical materials. Analyzing scientific data, reviewing deliverables, and supervising medical communications agencies are key responsibilities.

    Principal Responsibilities

    • Develop global communication strategies and publication plans
    • Chair the Global Publication Team(s)
    • Ensure timely execution of publication plans
    • Plan and implement educational initiatives
    • Establish collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Review scientific materials for content accuracy
    • Update strategic documents and platforms
    • Identify and manage medical communications agencies
    • Ensure compliance with publication policies

    Essential Qualifications

    • Advanced degree: PhD, PharmD, or MD
    • 7-10 years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical or Medical Communications
    • Strong expertise in strategic publication planning
    • Ability to interpret complex scientific data
    • Strong writing and critical thinking skills
    • Knowledge of publication practices and guidelines
    • Experience in scientific communications strategy
    • Leadership skills and ability to manage priorities
    • Proficiency in working with KOLs
    • Ability to travel when necessary

    Preferred Qualifications

    • PhD in Life Science, CMPP certified
    • Background in nephrology and rare diseases
    • Experience in peer-to-peer engagements
