While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster's positions are fully remote and you can work from home.

We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead, mentor, and coach our Hiring Quarters team, which is responsible for the hiring flows and several core data models within our platform.

You will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager of our Hire domain.


You will:


  • Recruit, hire, lead, and grow one or more engineering teams.
  • Build a supportive, egoless culture focused on collaboration, open communication, and valuing outcomes over output.
  • Live by, and champion, our values to make the team excellent to work in and work with.
  • Encourage active participation in all phases of the product development and project lifecycles, share essential context with the team, remove blockers for the team, and provide visibility to stakeholders.
  • Partner directly with Product and Design to deliver high quality projects and experiments predictably.
  • Continuously improve and optimize team processes to improve productivity.
  • Grow and sharpen your team with hiring, performance reviews, mentoring, and helping plan career growth.
  • Champion good practices within your team to improve the product, tooling, team, and processes. Ex. development patterns, securityminded thinking, tech debt management, TDD, iterative thinking.
  • Improve global hiring for the world by working crossfunctionally with Product, Design, Operations, Finance, Legal, and more.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have prior experience managing one or more teams.
  • Have several years of software development experience.
  • Have successfully worked with geographically distributed teams.
  • Excel with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, while having the ability to dig into technical details to inform decisions.
  • Enjoy working with a diverse set of individuals from various countries, backgrounds, and areas of expertise.
  • Have excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are interested in helping businesses hire globally, making the team member experience a pleasure for everyone, and helping the team and world learn to work in a simpler, more asynchronous way.

Engineering at Oyster:
