Senior Director, Head of Product role for Design and Planning, focuses on the most impactful area within R&D; helping x-functional R&D teams globally with digital, data and analytics to achieve study designs that have higher probability of success, accelerated timelines, reduced cost, improved patient experience and reduced carbon emissions,


Typical Accountabilities:


The role holder will:

  • Lead the cross functional teams supporting transformation programs in Design & Planning
  • Lead the strategy and vision for the products under Design & Planning, in collaboration with the senior leaders across all therapeutic areas in Astrazeneca and cross functional teams involved in study design and planning
  • Own and manage the Planning & Design budget, budget planning processes and objective setting to ensure value is delivered to the business on time and on budget
  • Responsible for strategy, plan and tracking of benefits, metrics and value stories proving the value delivered to the business
  • As the head of Planning & Design, identify strategic issues in the planning & design area for which Digital Health can deliver solutions and provide recommendations to Executive Director, Head of Products.
  • Supported by the Planning & Design Product Managers, translate the Planning & Design strategy, vision and objectives into a clear roadmap ensure value and benefits are delivered to the business
  • Ensure discovery & delivery of new epics and features are considered across all domains, personas, and user journeys in Planning & Design
  • Provide opportunities for all delivery team members to hear feedback from customers to create a delighted customer driven culture across planning & design team
  • Partner with leads from the cross functional team (Technical Delivery, Product, UX and Design) to continuously improve and optimize ways of working
  • Develop and performance manage a team of direct reports ensuring a constructive balance between challenge and coaching
  • Responsible for stimulating conceptual thinking and creativity across the team and challenging the status quo for continuous improvement.
  • Influence key senior partners and provide clear & concise advice including recommendations to aid good decisionmaking.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor Honours Degree or Master's in scientific or technical field
  • Professional qualification
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry with strong knowledge of Drug Development
  • Processes, and experience of developing products to treat diseases in related Therapy Area
  • Proven delivery track record. Experience in Digital Health with solid understanding of Healthcare
  • Ability to lead and influence strategically and persuade tactfully, to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive, organizational relationships
  • Ability to work collaboratively and drive in a cross functional setting with internal as well as external partners
  • Ability to challenge the status quo, take ownership and holds self and others accountable
  • Experience leading a development team and working in a global environment
  • Welldeveloped communication skills, able to create clarity from ambiguity
  • Proven leadership abilities and experience promoting, motivating and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organizational objectives
  • Transformational Leadership of functional and cross functional team
  • Ability to influence strategically and persuade tactfully, to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive, organizational relationships
  • Passion for Patients and Customers, representing the needs of multiple customers in decision making
