Position Summary


The Data Collection Supervisor will be required to work as part of the Data Collection team for a fixed term until project completion, ensuring that the data required for the project is collected to the required quality standards.

You will independently interact with members of the public who have been recruited to take part in the project based on demographic quotas, advise them about the project requirements, handle data release consent forms, accompany participants during collection, and liaise with the recruitment teams where necessary.

The project requires participants to perform prompted actions that are recorded on video whilst in a stationary or moving car, for sessions ranging from 30 to 90 minutes.

The required working hours are approximately 40 hours a week.

There may be the possibility of some overtime (evening or weekend sessions) if required and not encumbering the minimum rest time of one and a half uninterrupted days per week.


Responsibilities

  • Sensitive data handling
  • Data entry of participant information
  • Reporting to program manager and project managers
  • Interacting with members of the public, both adults and minors
  • Interacting with representatives from the client for training and troubleshooting
  • Explaining project quality requirements to participants
  • Accompanying participants during data collection, either stationary or in moving vehicles
  • Moving vehicles to different locations
  • Troubleshooting any software/hardware issues with the help of colleagues and technical support if required
  • Setting up the camera equipment in different vehicles based on training provided
  • Setting up the vehicles as per project requirements with a variety of objects loaded into the vehicles

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Fluent in English (and the main local language, if different)
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills
  • Good technical/software skills e.g. MS Office, Windows, and comfortable with troubleshooting software/hardware

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience with interacting with members of the public (adults and children)
  • Experience with managing your own time and schedule to meet project deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Good to have:
  • A full driving licence (manual and automatic) with zero endorsements or penalties

Information Security Responsibilities

  • The management of Appen has adopted an Information Security Management System and Information Security Policy that complies with BS77992:2005/ISO27001:2013 (the ISMS). All Appen employees are expected to adhere to this policy and the ISMS that implements this policy. All staff will receive appropriate training.
