    Job Description

Working as part of a newly created function, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining digital twin simulations to replicate real-world systems and processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data scientists, and SME's, to create accurate and reliable digital representations of physical assets or environments. Your expertise will play a critical role in optimizing system performance, predicting behaviour, virtual commissioning, Virtual Reality simulations, and facilitating decision-making processes.

    Key Accountabilities

  • Digital Twin Development: Design, develop, and maintain digital twin simulations to represent complex systems, processes, or physical assets of CHEP Service Centres.
  • Data Integration: Gather and integrate data from various sources, including PLC, sensors, IoT devices, and historical records, to ensure accurate representation of the physical system in the digital twin.
  • Model Creation and Validation: Build mathematical models and algorithms to simulate the behaviour and interactions of components within the digital twin. Validate the models against real-world data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Simulation Execution: Run simulations using appropriate software tools and platforms, considering factors such as environmental conditions, operational constraints, and system dynamics.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyse simulation results, identify trends, and extract meaningful insights to optimize system performance, identify areas for improvement, and inform decision-making processes.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts, to gather requirements, exchange knowledge, and ensure seamless integration of digital twin simulations into relevant systems or processes.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document simulation methodologies, assumptions, and results. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and insights to stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with emerging technologies, tools, and techniques related to digital twin simulations. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of simulation activities.
  • Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Engineering, Computer Science, Science or Mathematics

Specific knowledge in areas such as:

  • Systems modelling, control theory, simulation techniques
  • Ideally, knowledge in PLC Programming (Rockwell preferred)
  • Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language such as C, C++, C#, Python, Java etc
  • Proficiency in simulation software tools such as Emulate3D, MATLAB, COMSOL
  • Ideally, experience in Digital Simulation, Robotics or 3d Modelling, Factory Automation Systems, AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc... 2d & 3d
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) is advantageous.
  • Strong grasp of engineering principles and understanding of complex systems, processes, or assets.
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and develop simulation models to address them.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in non-technical roles.
  • Meticulousness attention to detail in model creation, data integration, and result analysis to ensure accuracy and reliability of digital twin simulations.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, adapt to changing requirements, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work across the world and deal with different cultures and languages.
