Licensing Engineer

Description:

Holtec Europe is seeking a Licensing Engineer to join our Licensing Department in Madrid, Spain.

The Licensing Engineer is responsible for assisting in the successful implementation of used fuel and nuclear waste storage and transportation licensing actions to meet current and future client needs, maintenance and execution of licensing processes and procedures, and responding to licensing related questions from clients and other Holtec Associates.

This includes licensing actions under 10CFR72, 10CFR71, SSR-6, IAEA TS-R-1, and all applicable international licensing regulations.


Principal Duties:


  • Assisting in the successful implementation of licensing actions
  • Coordinating with design personnel to ensure new designs and design changes meet regulatory requirements
  • Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining licensing documentation in compliance with regulations and strict quality assurance standards
  • Interfacing with technical discipline teams at Holtec and reviewing technical material prepared by others
  • Reviewing of correspondence to the Nuclear Regulators
  • Assisting with safety analysis report (SAR) revisions and preparation
  • Preparing or reviewing 72.48 evaluations

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical field from an accredited university
  • Capability and willingness to assume full responsibility for a project task
  • Capability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards.
  • Self-Starter with ability to manage deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) and Adobe Professional
  • 23 years demonstrated, applicable experience in nuclear licensing, or comparable field
Position is expected to be in office with partial remote work.


Familiarity with the following is considered desirable:

  • 10 CFR Part 72 and/or 10 CFR Part 7
  • Licensing of commercial nuclear power plants, including familiarity with US NRC Parts 50 and 52 regulations and related regulatory guidance.
  • US NRC guidance related to 10 CFR Part 71 and Part 72 implementation (Regulatory Guides, Standard Review Plans, Interim Staff Guidance documents, Generic Communications)
  • Familiarity with 10 CFR 72.48, and/or 50.59 processes
  • IAEA TS-R1, ADR and SSR6 requirements, and associated guidance documents.
  • Nuclear and/or power generation industry experience
  • Project management and project management software tools (Primavera, Microsoft Projects)
