SIT Graduate Institute seeks a full-time Associate Professor or Full Professor in Comparative, International and/or Global Education (rank to be determined on evaluation of credentials), who will also serve as the Chair of our Global Master's degree in International Education.

The faculty member will also teach online courses and advise students in the hybrid Ed.
D. in Global Education and may be asked to teach courses in the hybrid MA in International Education.


Students in our Global Master's program begin their program in Washington, D.C., before spending their first semester in Seville, Spain.

The students then travel to spend their second semester in Nepal. The emphasis of the program is on experiential learning.

Through their immersive journey, our students experience diverse cultures and educational systems as they gain the necessary skills in program design and implementation, evaluation, leadership, intercultural communication, policy analysis, research, and educational practice to build a successful career as a socially minded international educator with the aim of working in study abroad, internationalization of education at home, international development, or international education policy-thinking.

Graduates work in colleges and universities, secondary schools, other formal education systems, nonprofit organizations, governmental bodies, and other institutions. Students are early and midcareer professionals drawn from the United States and around the world.


The program chair would be based in Seville, Spain, and would be supported by an Associate Chair or Academic Coordinator in Nepal.


About SIT Full-Time Faculty


SIT full-time faculty are employees who have been appointed to faculty rank position through a rigorous international, national, or regional search process.

The appointee must meet or exceed academic standards.

These standards include possession of appropriate degrees from recognized academic institutions or the equivalent in professional experience; demonstrated excellence in teaching/training; research and publications in industry recognized media; experience managing and supervising staff; and potential for significant contributions to the field and to World Learning/SIT.

When circumstance warrant, the faculty member will have a local employment contract through an affiliated local entity or as determined by SIT.

The position is full-time for the entire contract period.


RESPONSIBILITIES
Academics - Curriculum, Faculty, Library, and Professional Development

  • Establish/review/update program curriculum in collaboration with program team leadership member(s)
  • Compose academic guidebooks
  • Select and supervise program faculty and staff (nonteaching) in collaboration with Dean of Graduate Institute and Dean of Faculty
  • Hire, onboard, and support adjunct faculty as necessary (adjunct faculty should be identified and communicated to GI administration two months prior to the start of a new semester)
  • Interface effectively with SIT library about online delivery technology and course reading materials
  • Plan and facilitate safe and academically effective program experiential learning opportunities in collaboration with program leadership team members(s), faculty, and incountry partners
  • Facilitate student professional development activities with SIT Graduate Institute
  • Liaise with appropriate partners (e.g. program Associate Chair or Academic Coordinator, or program Practicum Facilitator) to ensure quality advisors, student practicums, and student capstone projects
  • Teach and advise master's and doctoral students across multiple graduate programs

The program chair will have staff support on site to aid them in the following administrative activities.


Set-up and Implementation

  • Negotiate appropriate (academically relevant) and costeffective services for the forthcoming academic year in collaboration with Dean of Graduate Institute and program leadership team member(s)
  • Create work plan with the Associate Dean of the Graduate Institute to effectively manage workloads and responsibilities across Graduate Institute
  • Explore and negotiate housing arrangements for students for forthcoming academic year in collaboration with other team member(s)
  • Facilitate identification of locations, organizations, and transportation for safe and effective program activities during orientation(s) and throughout
