The Barcelona Supercomputing Center
Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads largescale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 800 staff from 55 countries.

Context And Mission
Key Duties
Collection and processing of activity and emission data for use in model development.
Development of spatial, temporal and speciation profiles for different emission sectors.
Development and assessment of emission estimation methodologies.
Analysis, benchmarking and intercomparison of emission inventories.
Modelling emissions, postprocessing and analysis of the results.
Interact with computational engineers for the technical development and deployment of the model.
Interact with atmospheric composition scientists to understand and respond to their needs.

Requirements:

Education
A graduate degree in the physical sciences or engineering (e.g., Chemistry, Meteorology, Physics, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering), Master in Environmental Engineering or similar.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience in emission inventory development.
Experience in GIS data and tools.
Experience in programming in Python and/or R.
Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Previous experience in similar fields will be valued.
Competences
Very good interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and within a team

Conditions

The position will be located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department
We offer a fulltime contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with stateoftheart infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
Duration: Temporary years aprox)
Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
Starting date: ASAP
