The Senior Director, Statistics has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry to independently lead a biometrics team to deliver project and/or technical level activities related to design, delivery and interpretation, high level internal governance committees and/or regulatory submissions.
This Senior Director, Statistics leading projects ensures Biometrics input and support for a project and the Senior Director, Statistics leading the statistical innovation area leads statistical methodological advances across a business unit.
The Senior Director, Statistics lead, manage and develop a group of statisticians.The accountabilities for the Senior Director, Statistics leading projects are:
- To lead, manage and develop a group of statisticians
- Work according to agreed functional and regional SHE strategy by ensuring proper management of SHE risks, incidents, reporting, followup and improvements
- Leadership to biometrics staff worldwide
- Ensures drug projects are successfully delivered by leading biometrics support and strategy. This includes Development Plans, Regulatory Strategy and Submissions, high level internal governance committees, Health Technology Assessment and Reimbursement/Payer and Commercial support as appropriate for the stage of the product.
- Leadership to staff on the product worldwide so that all work is carried out with regards to AZ standards and external regulations.
- Develop contacts with international and external opinion leaders, consultants and collaborative groups.
- Provide leadership and direction to improvement projects/activities/ initiatives
- Lead Biometrics resourcing to deliver projects and input on internal vs outsourcing delivery
- Maintain understanding and awareness of, as well and investigate and implement, new methodologies, therapy area and Development advances.
- May represent AZ and Statistics to Health Authorities and Reimbursement/Payer Organizations or high level internal governance committees for specific projects/indications.
- Competent program and project leadership.
- To lead, manage and develop a group of statisticians
- Develop strategy & actionable plans for addressing future business needs
- Identify & drive the development & utilisation of leadingedge statistical methodology, skills, capabilities, tools, processes & best practice, in order to add value to drug development
- Deliver overall analytics strategy, and provide senior level technical expertise regarding statistical capabilities & solutions
- Develop statistical innovation skill & staff, including recruitment
- Develop collaborative relationships with the external scientific/academic community
- Steer and support the development and maintenance of required tools and processes that meets regulatory and evidential requirements
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
- MSc/PhD in Statistics, Mathematics (containing a substantial statistical component), or recognised equivalent to stats MSc
- Track record of background in leading independently
- In depth knowledge of technical/regulatory requirements with experience in pharm/healthcare
- Exemplary technical skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships

- Managerial experience
- Excellent collaboration required needs the energy to work across global & functional boundaries both internally and externally
- Travel willingness to travel domestically & internationally
