Job Description Summary:

As Offshore Machine Head Senior Rear Frame structural leader you will be owner of the major structural components of Haliade-x offshore platform.

In this role, you will deliver engineering designs/requirements, execute business critical New Product Introductions, drive cost competitiveness, and ensure world class subsystem performance of the biggest offshore Wind Turbine up to date.

You will also stablish vision for the key components by defining requirements and guidelines for the rest of the structural team while providing technical guidance and quality assurance mechanisms of design processes.

You will work together with Supply Chain, EHS, Operations relevant stakeholders among others, to deliver the best solution from a whole value chain perspective.


Responsibilities include:


  • Full ownership and accountability for design, development, testing and certification of Rear Frame structural components.
  • Perform Engineering Excellence and provide innovative design solutions to deliver world class quality.
  • Propose ideas to achieve subsystem main design CTQ's such as cost, performance, and weight while ensuring quality of deliverables, on time delivery, design cost, DFMEA, performance and availability.
  • Ensure full integrated solutions, considering all mechanical and electrical interfaces that interact with rear frame.
  • Support tradeoff and conceptual discussions for subsystem level design integrated into the whole product.
  • Ensure proper design reviews and documentation quality according to RE120 Instruction and defined project gates both by owning technical reviews and guiding others into the process.
  • Functional leadership of transversal team (product definition engineer, FEA analysis engineers )
  • Contribute and review technical documents produced by the team: drawings, design review presentations, subsystem specifications, design practices, technical instructions, and related technical topics affecting on time delivery and first time yield.
  • Support on Product safety and EHS reviews.
  • Demonstrate effective risk mitigation and technical problem solving.
  • Drive simplification and standardization of best practices across platforms for the rear frame
  • Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies & Procedures, Engineering Standards, Specifications, Commercial Standards, best practices, and special safety requirements.
  • Support and coordinate with interfacing teams located in different countries within the organization.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or related discipline. Preferably mechanical. Professional formation would be acceptable by providing successful experience record.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience rear frame components.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (mechanical, industrial, aeronautical).
  • Minimum 8 years proven technology and/or product management experience.
  • Knowledge of calculation methods related to the strength of materials and welded components. Finite element simulation. Metallurgy, welding processes and NDT are added values for the job.
  • Knowledge of Standards and Design Codes (DNV-GL guideline, Eurocode, IIW, VDI2230).
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Demonstrated system thinking ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across stakeholders to influence outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ownership, selfmotivated, problem solving, analytical, team player, communication skills and ability to develop relationships.
  • Experience as functional team leader coordinating workload and engineering resources.

Desired Characteristics:


  • Wind industry expertise with proven results developing & implementing technology programs.
  • Wind turbine Machine Head and related component technical and business expertise.
  • Experience in design of offshore structure considered as a plus.
  • Business acumen and customer focus.
  • Experience as Design Engineer (DE) for wind turbine components or modules.
  • Proven experience in GE's Product Definition environment (NX, PLM) and ECO execution process
  • Manufacturing processes knowledge.
