Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives:

PRIMARY GOALs


The primary goal of the role is to deliver sustainable growth and profitability of ADC's business in the long term and short term for Spain.

The position will be responsible for development and implementation of Region's strategic plans and initiatives including developing and translating Division's strategic goals to actionable plans for the region.

Talent attraction/retention, engagement and organizational health, compliance of business with internal & external regulations.

Translate division strategies into affiliate strategies and operational plans.

Deliver sustainable, profitable results through plan execution, that support short and long term growth.

Inspire team and develops talent.
Shape and influence external environment for the category to build and sustain reputation.

Represent and "is" Abbott in the Affiliate both internally and externally, upholds Abbott's reputation and builds the brand image.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Translate and adapt the division strategy into an operations plan/business model for the country/region.
  • Articulate the plan in a way that motivates and inspires the team to own and execute it, while continuously rolemodeling and reinforcing Abbott's culture.
  • Routinely assess external environment to stay current on business and industry concerns. Assess and prioritize potential business opportunities, anticipates future needs and develop strategies for advancing the category against competitors.
  • Navigate complex and changing compliance and regulatory environments; understand the business context, i.e. payer systems, customers, local market and competition to build sustainable environment for ADC.
  • Successfully interact with and influence a variety of external stakeholders (governments, regulatory agencies, associations, etc); builds and sustains Abbott's reputation.
  • Create meaningful, actionable individual and team goals to achieve ADC's long and short term plans.
  • Acquire, allocate and sustain the necessary assets (people, materials, equipment) to achieve the short and long term plan and strategy. Delegates appropriately but assures that timelines are being met and financial results are delivered and optimized.
  • Execute according to plan and achieve set targets: set KPIs, priorities and measurement/performance systems, manage resources, and make adjustments.
  • Build lasting collaborative relationships with, and influence internal stakeholders including other Abbott GMs / ADC EMEAP Headquarters & ADC Global Headquarters, especially on strategic partnerships.
  • Hire, develop, inspire, encourage and retain talent, build diversity and succession pipeline. Mentors and lead staff development.
  • Act as interface between Area and affiliates. Visits affiliates on a regular basis in order to support the opportunities and exchange ideas with local management. Creates enthusiasm at the affiliate and synergies whenever possible in the region.
  • To comply with the company's policies and procedures to meet statutory, quality and business requirements within the overall strategy and objectives of Abbott Laboratories Ltd.
  • Owns local market access strategy.

Minimum Education:



REQUIRED:


  • Advanced degree, preferably business / management or science


PREFERRED:

- l Degree in business, management or science

  • Postgraduate training in management or leadership
  • Training in finance and quantitative skills (e.g. statistics)

Minimum Experience/Training/Background:

EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:


  • Manage commercial operations (sales, product marketing, payer models) in a middle/large size business unit (>$25MM and above) in medical devices industry or consumer healthcare.
  • Manage P&L and budgets as well as finance, operations, policy and compliance. Experience in optimizing P&L (margins improvement).
  • Develop and coach employees; highly effective people management skills including inspiring/engaging others to build a high performing organization

Developing and coaching "leaders":
experience in managing managers.

  • Manage/lead across functions, geographies, cultures and/or divisions. Work in a complex matrix management environment.
  • English and Local language fluency and local cultural expertise.
  • Driving change and building sustainable capabilities.
EXPERIENCE

PREFERRED:


  • Local market knowledge/experience in medical devices industry or healthcare industry would be advantageous.
