Job Description:
The German Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. The group Translational Genomics and Bioinformatics of Cancer at the IGTP is looking for a junior bioinformatician to work on different projects related to cancer genomics and translational bioinformatics.
The selected candidate will participate in multiple ongoing projects, working with single-cell data, nanopore sequencing, transcriptomics, and epigenomics.
Main Responsibilities:
The candidate will work on different projects of the group, analysing genomics and epigenomics data of different types.
They will take responsibility of specific tasks and small projects and collaborate in projects lead by other group members and external collaborators.
They are expected to learn and grow within the group and apply to PhD funding opportunities with help from the group members.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, biology, biotechnology, computer science, or related field.
Master's degree or enrolled in a Master's and expected to finish by June-July 2025.
Basic knowledge of genomic and/or epigenomic data analysis, including processing of NGS data.
Experience using R for data analysis and visualization.
Additional Valued Qualifications:
Experience using Linux and computational clusters (HPC).
Experience with whole genome sequencing, nanopore, and/or single-cell data.
Experience with workflow management systems (nextflow, snakemake…).
