    Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent Responsibilities:

    • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to safety standards, project schedules, blueprint specifications, quality guidelines, and budget constraints;
    • Conduct constructability reviews of engineering drawings and specifications during the initial execution phase;
    • Coordinate with site logistics staff to ensure seamless delivery of contractor materials to work areas;
    • Report to the project management team through the surface construction manager;
    • Manage and provide technical guidance and support to contractors within the designated area;
    • Monitor/supervise work in all phases within assigned areas and disciplines;
    • Assist contractors with interpretation, clarification, resolution of interferences, and QA/QC-related matters;
    • Assist with site health and safety program management;
    • Manage a safe working environment with contractors, ensuring compliance with all environmental, health, and safety policies;
    • Proactively work with contractors to achieve project safety and quality objectives;
    • Assist the General Superintendent/Construction Manager with planning and scheduling to facilitate timely and cost-effective contractor scope execution;
    • Candidates should have experience and be well-versed in design drawings, specifications, and construction contracts;
    • Ensure construction aligns with specifications and that assigned contractors follow best construction practices;
    • Ensure efficient use of materials and equipment by assigned contractors;
    • Supervise contractor performance throughout the project and offer corrective solutions (when necessary/agreed upon) in consultation with the General Superintendent/Construction Manager;
    • Assist the project team with contractor change order reviews/estimates, track performance during additional scope execution;
    • Monitor contractors' 3-week lookahead schedules during execution and report deviations to the General Superintendent/Construction Manager;
    • Provide daily progress reports to the General Superintendent detailing progress, achievements, contractor issues/concerns, and other relevant information as required by management;
    • Ensure contractors create/maintain punch lists and complete items before turnover for commissioning;
    • Ensure assigned contractors complete turnover documentation in a timely manner, review/accept ITPs, checklists, and QVDs prior to system turnover for commissioning;
    • Other assigned tasks as needed.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Post-secondary education required with a technical engineering diploma or official certification and over 5 years of experience in construction supervision/management in an industrial setting;
    • Experience in planning, directing, and organizing power cuts/shutdowns with multiple voltages including interfacing with the Operations and Maintenance team involving, among others, 25kv O/H line, 4160 V, 600 V;
    • Experience as an Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent with knowledge of Mechanical Completion process; high and medium voltage distribution; Distributed Control Systems (DCS); CEC, fiber optic, and arc flash awareness are essential;
    • Ability to establish relationships and coordinate with multidisciplinary site teams such as commissioning, completions, quality, construction, engineering, etc.;
    • Good computer skills with excellent Microsoft Office knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
    • Ability to read and interpret a variety of drawings; Single line diagrams, control drawings, motor schematics, electrical heat tracing;
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines;
    • Understanding of construction budgets;
    • Ability to use, interpret, and track performance compared to established contractor schedules;
    • Solid knowledge/understanding/adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies/procedures, ensuring contractors work in accordance with project-established HSE requirements;
    • Ability to lead/guide contractor supervisory staff and assess trade workforce;
    • Standard mobility required with the ability to work in cold climates and tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures and noise commonly found in an industrial construction environment;
    • Must possess a valid driver's license.
