    Overview of the Role :

    The Associate will join Nuveen's Southern European Retail team. Responsibilities will include providing assistance directly to the Head of Retail Southern Europe in its investment activities as well as assistance in the handling of the operational asset management of the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese retail property portfolio managed by Nuveen Real Estate currently consisting of 5 full price retail properties with an AUM of €1.3 bn.

    Key responsibilities :

    Asset Management : Assist the Head of Retail of the region who is responsible for the performance and the operating management of the portfolio.

    Implement the agreed asset management initiatives, capex programme, lease re-gears and renewals.Prepare and complete annual business plans and asset management initiatives.

    Coordinates and supports research in all areas of real estate, including background research, corporate relationships and the valuation and recommendation of the property.

    Instruct, coordinate and supervise external professional teams (incl. property managers, asset managers, leasing agents, communication agencies, lawyers, project managers, etc.

    Prepare periodic reporting to investors, analysis and explanation of variances.Assist in data collection of quarterly / annual property valuation process and review them.

    Collect and ensure the reliability of data that relate to properties under management.

    Investment : Assist the local portfolio manager in the underwriting of new investment opportunities.Follow the Due Diligence processProvide quarterly investment reportingPresent to Board and Investment committeeKeep abreast of investment opportunities and successfully communicates information to the investment team.

    Contributes to a pipeline of investment ideas that are in market or coming to market.

    Qualifications & Experience Required

    • Undergraduate degree
    • Relevant professional qualification(s) desirable (e.g. RICS)
    • 2-3 years experience in real estate asset management. Experience in the retail sector desirable.
    • Knowledge and experience of local law concerning lease agreement, legal real estate environment and notions in construction / urbanism
    • Understanding of tenant mix, performance, and operations
    • Demonstrable interest in ESG investing in Real Estate and its application within asset management
    • Financial, analytical, and modelling skills (experienced user of Excel)
    • Experience of Argus AE software desirable
