    Job Purpose

    We are looking for a Procurement Director for Western Europe based in Bilbao to manage & improve our organization's procurement needs across the sub-region.

    This Director will be responsible for all procurement activities and act as a focal point for procurement within France and Iberia with the goal of achieving significant total cost of ownership reductions, while maintaining & improving product quality and vendor service levels. The Director will have one team member and will report directly to the Global Vice President Procurement.

    This is the right opportunity for a candidate who is looking to join a global, growing business and to play a critical role in strategic sourcing activities in various procurement direct and indirect categories, finding innovative solutions to continuous improve & ensure compliance for the procurement of materials & services for Sibelco.

    Job Responsibilities

    1) Managing procurement

  • Drives category strategy within the (sub)region and capture real savings
  • Develops and implements sourcing strategies for key spend in the (sub)region
  • Consolidates and standardizes supplier portfolio
  • Deploys best practices in vendor selection/negotiation/contracting
  • Monitors performances of vendors and the compliance with guidelines
  • Tracks performance within each spend category and define budgetary impact
  • Monitors strategy implementation and contract compliance (incl. SAP MD maintenance)
  • Uses systems and tools to increase efficiency in the procurement process and provides training to the other stakeholders
  • 2) Supplier and Contract Life Cycle

  • Supplier relationship and risk management:Implements the tools and a global processes and standard templates for managing the Supplier Selection, qualification and evaluation processManages supplier relationships, performance and contract lifecycle management
  • Contract Management:Ensures supplier contracts are always timely renewed and obtained via process guaranteeing best commercial conditions for Sibelco.Stores contracts in repository and follows up expiration of contracts to start tendering in time.
  • 3) Compliance and Governance

  • Upholds internal and external policies, regulations and lawsImplements the Global Procurement Policy, procedures and guidelines, work instructions, MICS, Supplier Code of Conduct and use Delegation of approval levels across the company for the contracting processes
  • 4) Category Management

  • Establishes best-in-class category management practice:Defines category vision and strategyAssesses current spend (baseline), identify opportunities & set targetsSets out detailed plan that will lead to a consolidation of supplier base at (sub)-regional level, creation of uniform SKUs, reduction of small order Pos, standardization of suppliers.
  • Aligns with key stakeholders to implement the plan.
  • 5) Project Management

  • Leads tender projects in the sub-region (e.g. customer specific), projects on sustainability
  • Provides assistance to acquisition strategies by completing due diligence and integration activities
  • About you

    To be successful in this position you should possess:

  • Bachelor or preferrably Masters'degree in Supply Chain or Procurement
  • 8-10 years of proven, strong experience in end-to-end supply chain and procurement
  • Strong understanding of Compliance & Governance, procedures and guidelines
  • Proven experience in category management, implementing procurement strategies, contract compliance supplier & contract life cycle management, developing supplier bases (ideally in Iberia and/or France) as well as negotiating
  • Practical understanding of industrial mineral industry or experience working in manufacturing and/or production business is preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills to be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management and teams
  • Previous team leading experience with the ability to motivate & coach employees
  • Quick adaptor to new technology tools and processes
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good knowledge about MS Office and other ERP systems (Working knowledge of SAP is an advantage)
  • Self starter, ability to work independently as well as part of a globally dispersed team
  • Take proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to be able to travel
  • Full fluency in English & preferably French is required
