Job Summary


The Ocado Solutions Commercial Projects team is responsible for one of the most important targets in the company; signing new international partnerships.

This includes inspiring potential partners on all levels, including C-level executives worldwide, while managing the full sales process from research and initial contact to detailed joint work, building detailed P&Ls, negotiating complex financial terms/agreements and ultimately contract signing.


The [USE TITLE ABOVE] (known internally as International Commercial Projects Manager (ICPM)) will demonstrate a passion for relationship building with various teams and levels internally and externally.

You will demonstrate ownership and autonomy to manage prospects, coordinating the various work streams overall (Tech, Logistics, Network Planning, Legal, etc.) and being the main day-to-day project lead on the commercial work stream, building up business modeling and driving strategic commercial decisions.


The [USE TITLE ABOVE] will liaise regularly with prospective partners, so will be a great communicator and commercially savvy negotiator with an aptitude for commercial consultative selling (internally and externally).

They will also be highly driven despite challenges and demonstrate a capability to deliver results through complex long-term agreements.


The role will be based in Ocado's head office in Hatfield (30 min train from Central London) for at least 2 days/week and will involve UK and international travel.

There is also an opportunity to be based at the Barcelona office in Spain.


Accountabilities

  • Business development with multiple international prospects (between one and four in parallel at varying levels of maturity)
  • Building detailed online P&Ls from the bottom up, explaining and negotiating complex fees to demonstrate longterm P&L improvement
  • Building excellent relationships with prospects and internal stakeholders to ensure client needs are met in a professional and timely manner
  • Lead daytoday business development activities including presentations, business case advice, commercial workshops and prospect visits
  • Act as main point of contact with prospective clients, coordinating project plans and regular checkpoints internally and externally
  • Support commercial and technical negotiation of complex contracts; contribute to successful deal conclusion
Facilitate successful post-sales activities and ensure a smooth transition to the implementation team


Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:


Minimum:


  • 5 years' relevant experience in a complex, commercial environment, ideally within business development
  • Excellent data analysis, deep understanding of financial statements/P&Ls and high proficiency within Excel
  • Strong demonstration of commercial acumen, relationship building and influencing through oral and written communication skills (fluent in written and spoken english) Strong experience in leading teams and driving simultaneous projects to completion despite challenges

  • Proven experience in E
  • commerce / Operations / Technology projects or industry roles
  • Retail/FMCG experience in the Retail industry strategy consulting, business development or investment banking
  • International working experience
  • Degree qualified or relevant demonstrable experience
  • Fluency in foreign language/s (e.g. French, Spanish, or other language/s)
