The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. Context And Mission
The Head of Computational Social Sciences programme will lead a new transversal programme in Computational Social Sciences at BSC. The research programme will foster the social sciences research using the HPC & Data resources in collaboration with different stakeholders at national and international level.
Key Duties
Ensure the implementation of the strategic research of Computational Social Siences, through strategic planning and team leadership
Report and advice, in the areas of competence, to the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors of BSC
Actively generate a networking of Computational Social Sciences at national level
Represent BSC in front of stakeholders in this specific area of research
Start and maintain international relations with key international research institutions
Position BSC in the European/national research ecosystem in social sciences, particularly in the use of data/HPC for these disciplines.
Actively participate in the generation of a big "data lake" for social sciences research
Participate as a member of BSC executive board when required
Foster and participate in relevant publications in peer reviewed journals

Requirements:

Education
PhD in social sciences, economics, physics, computer sciences, engineering or similar disciplines
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
A minimum of 15 years' experience in the scientific area as scientific leader
Excellent record in managing resources and getting grants both at national and international levels.
Demonstrable experience in managing multidisciplinary research teams
Excellent record of relevant publications in peer reviewed journals
Excellent scientific profile in the area, with international visibility
Excellent record in managing resources and getting grants both at national and international levels
Competences
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English and Spanish, Catalan will be valued)
Fluency in English and Spanish, Catalan will be valued
Leadership skills
Capacity to interact and build strong relations with people

Conditions

The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department
We offer a fulltime contract, a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with stateoftheart infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
Duration: Openended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration, with a strong commitment to stabilizing the position in permanent when possible
