He / She will work in the Engineering Rotor Team, focusing in Rotor Blade structural components development

The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

About us

GE Renewable Energy is one of the world's leading offshore wind energy companies, with a portfolio of offshore wind turbines ranging from 6 MW to 14 MW that offer increased value to customers with proven performance, reliability, efficiency and availability.

We have invested more than $400 million to develop the Haliade-X, an investment that will also drive down offshore wind farms' levelized cost of energy, helping make offshore wind energy more competitive for our customers.

The Haliade-X was the industry's first 14MW offshore wind turbine to operate, and is the only 12+MW offshore wind turbine platform that has been operating for over two years, specifically at its Rotterdam prototype site.

Essential Responsibilities:

-
Design requirements definition

Collect and document rotor blade structural components design requirements in accordance with system level wind turbine product requirements to reach functionality, timing, cost and reliability targets across Haliade-X platform development roadmap.

Transversally align, agree and specify interfaces with the surrounding components and systems owners focusing in optimum wind turbine system level performance
-
Design development
Specify, design, calculate and validate rotor structural components to meet the defined design requirements

He / She is accountable of all related documentation required by other functions and suppliers to produce and integrate the components in the turbine.

This includes supplier specifications, assembly drawings, design drawings, packaging instructions, transport instructions, preservation instructions, installation instructions, commissioning instructions, controls interface instructions and all related additional documentation in alignment with the defined design guidelines.

-
Component Validation
The Blade Rotor Structural Engineer develops the Test & Validation strategy for blade and related structural components in alignment with the corresponding design guidelines and related design teams
-
Component evolution design ownership
The Blade Rotor Structural Engineer is responsible of component design evolution and will be responsible of:

  • Engineering design changes management
  • Design nonconformities resolution
Participate in the technological watch, actively promoting both the protection and the development of GE's intellectual property

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Engineering degree with a master in structural, aeronautics or mechanical design, from an accredited university
  • A minimum of 5 years of structural development of wind turbines blades, related steel components and bolted connections, including participation in creation of specifications, design, FEM calculation and validation
  • Proven experience in blade design assessment based in finite elements assessment of composite materials (i.e. Ansys, Abacus)
  • Proven experience in structural steel part design assessment based in finite elements for static and fatigue assessment (i.e. Ansys, Abacus or similar and nCode or similar)
  • Proven ability to work with transversal teams and suppliers during development and industrialization project phases
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
