    The role

    The role of Compliance Director reports into the Global Head of Payments Compliance, based in London and sits within the Second Line of Defence (2LOD). The role is a stand-alone position but with a dotted line to the our team of 3 regulatory compliance specialists. The role scope covers overseeing the activities of the 1LOD as well and Regulatory Compliance. The position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a diverse an international stage and add value to join a fast-paced FinTech company.

    This role will be filled in Krakow or Barcelona and operate a hybrid work model.

    We will consider remote candidates in the Poland and Spain based on experience.

    Responsibilities:

    · Identify, assess, monitor, and control compliance risks associated with the Company's current and proposed future business activities.

    · Monitor the regulatory developments and prepare the Company for upcoming regulatory changes.

    · Oversee the implementation of any necessary amendments to Due Diligence procedures and programs following changes in AML and Regulatory Compliance risk assessments.

    · Act as advisor on CDD related queries from the Compliance Team members (both 1LOD and 2LOD) and the wider business.

    · Conduct Due Diligence checks of high-risk accounts/customers for escalated cases.

    · Supervise Due Diligence checks conducted by the KYC team (ongoing Quality Assurance) and exercises permanent control of 1LOD's business activities (e.g. new products, compliance).

    · Liaise with other business stakeholders including IT to ensure a proper integration of KYC verification tools and other systems designed to support the Due Diligence processes.

    · Ensure the proper training of relevant employees in Compliance.

    · Implement any necessary amendments in the sanctions procedures and programs following any changes in the AML and Regulatory Compliance Manual.

    · Cooperate with third party vendors and relevant stakeholders including IT in ensuring the proper integration of sanctions screening tools.

    · Ensure that proper record keeping of 1LOD checks is being performed by 1LOD Compliance transaction monitoring results, implement any necessary amendments in the transactions monitoring procedures and programs following any changes in the AML and Regulatory Compliance Manual.

    · Supervise the adjustment of the transaction monitoring rules according to the current fraud, money laundering or terrorist financing patterns and trends.

    · Conduct enhanced verification of large value transactions based on customer risk ratings.

    · Report any knowledge or suspicion of money laundering or terrorist financing to the MLRO.

    · Advice business stakeholders on intel stemming from the compliance tools and other fraud and compliance-related matters.

    · Communicate with the competent authorities, banks and partners in regard to various requests.

    · Communicates and trains relevant teams on compliance requirements

    · Oversees the policy management process, inclusive of policy creation, update, and implementation.

    · Can support the development of new product/services (compliance by design)

    Requirements

    · Ideally, you'll need to be based in Poland (Krakow), London or Barcelona. Working remotely can be considered for the right candidate but, in such case, regular travel to the main hubs would be required.

    · Bachelor's degree in Law, Business or similar

    · At least, 5 to 10 years of experience in a compliance role within financial services, ideally within payments (and preferably within an EMI, a Payment Institution, or a Payments Service Provider).

    · Payments and regulatory compliance knowledge are a must. Payment's compliance expertise is highly desirable. This role is likely to become a compliance officer for one of our licensed entities, and this might be challenging without payments compliance experience.

    · Experience in applying a risk-based approach to compliance (on products, use cases, transactions, etc.).

    · Experience in creating, updating, and monitoring systematic risk assessments.

    · Experience in 1LOD's oversight.

    · Experience liaising with senior members of the management team, banks, auditors and regulators.

    · Strong knowledge of all aspects of financial crime; KYC, AML, CFT, sanctions screening.

    · Excellent communications skills – written and verbal.

    · Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.

    · Proactive and creative in problem-solving.

    · Knowledge on tools to meet regulatory and operational compliance (e.g. KYC, horizon scanning, RegTech).

    Experience working in a scale-up business would be beneficial.

    Proficiency in English.
