The Role:

The Enterprise Data Risk Manager is a role within the Enterprise Data Office within AZ IT.

The role works closely with partners across Business functions and IT to identify key metrics to report on data risks and collate this data into reports to leaders.

The role supports the Enterprise Data Risk Lead in defining the data risk framework, the risk reporting process and communicating these to the wider organisation.


The enterprise data risk manager role will be working with business peers, data owners as well as colleagues across IT.

The role is a superb opportunity for an experienced data governance professional or risk professional to establish and influence the adoption practices for handling risk across key data assets in AZ.


The purpose of this role is to improve business adoption of data risk practices, improve the quality reporting on data risks and its governance.

Working with senior partners from business units throughout AZ, the Enterprise Data Office and relevant third parties to deliver a data governance programme to improve data risk reporting and management within our core systems and business processes.


Key Accountabilities:

Responsibilities will evolve over time as the AZ governance landscape evolves.

They will include but will not be restricted to leading and carrying out:


  • Building and maintaining a detailed assessment of AZ's data risk activity to ensure compliance with enterprise data risk framework and guidelines.
  • Create and retain ownership accountability and responsibility mentorship to the business functions
  • Develop standards, policies and procedures to support the data risk governance strategy and provide technical assurance for the ongoing implementation of the data risk framework within the business
  • Lead the delivery of the enterprise data risk reporting
  • Lead teams across AZ to ensure data risk policies and practices are embedded throughout the company
  • Align the data risk programme to the enterprise data risk management processes & strategy, and collaborated closely with IT Risk & Compliance team
  • Use specialist knowledge and expertise to identify improvements to ensure that the enterprise data risk standards continue to evolve to meet the changing regulatory and business landscape.
  • Continually assess and identify risks in line with the AZ risk management approach, ensuring they are owned and as appropriate mitigated and accounted for.
  • Support and supervise data ownership activities and management of data risks
  • Identify and develop standards and guidance that need to be put in place to ensure the role can be carried out effectively and efficiently
  • Support project planning and management to ensure standard process and finance frameworks are followed with regards to the enterprise data and information governance team.

Qualifications:


  • A post graduate information management or data governance qualification or at least three years' experience working within a data governance or risk management setting.

Experience and Knowledge:


  • A good understanding of data governance or risk management practices including identification of measurable data points to report on, establishing automated gathering of data, drafting of processes and reports
  • Experience in leading a data governance or risk management programme
  • Understanding of the principles of IT security and data protection
  • Experience of requirements capturing
  • Validated ability to extract information by questioning, active listening and interviewing
  • Superb communication and interpersonal ability
- able to collaborate closely with staff at all levels

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce clear requirements, reports and process documentation
  • Specialist knowledge of data governance principles and practices
  • Good ability to communicate information, business process and system wide changes to a technical and nontechnical audience
  • Ability to work on own initiative within agreed boundaries
  • Ability to work under stress and handle conflicting priorities
