About the Team


The Technology, Innovation and Customer Experience team are responsible for delivering Technology and Registration/Access Services for our Mobile World Congress Event Series and Mobile 360 Events.


The team comprises of a globally dispersed team who provide innovative and bespoke technology solutions in conjunction with our 3rd party vendors to support our events - with a particular focus on the registration and access to our events.


As a team, we are a collective of high-performance event specialists who are motivated to deliver at an exceptional level.

For example, we successfully delivered some of the first in-person events in the world for over 20,000 attendees during the height of the covid pandemic.

About the Role


The Event Technology Manager will report into the Head of Technology or Head of Innovation and will hold a pivotal position in driving and supporting in the planning and delivery both pre-event and onsite of the GSMA's event technology, registration and access operations for Mobile 360 Events and other projects as assigned.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create Business Requirement Documents and translate these into functional specifications. Design process map, workflows, use cases and creation of Data Flow Diagrams where necessary
  • Lead the design of the assigned attendee experience from concept to execution, acting as a source of knowledge and information for others throughout the organization.
  • Be the conduit between key stakeholders, connecting the physical and digital delivery teams, and translating operational requirements into technical solutions.
  • Lead Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Functionality Testing:
  • Manage all pre-event testing & scheduling required for the Digital platforms
  • Work with individual owners on agenda to ensure the correct delivery of the programs across all platforms: Content Management System, Streaming Platform, Partner Application System and Partner Application management System, Onsite production system:
  • Responsible for the implementation and configuration of the Digital Products in our Digital platforms.
  • Logistical & Operational Planning
  • Dimensioning of onsite services
  • Collateral design & ordering
  • Signage planning
  • Onsite scanning both perimeter and sessions
  • Onsite staff including training
  • Risk & contingency planning
  • Create and or maintain process handling documentation e.g.,
  • Onsite processes and FAQ's where appliable
  • Documents for the digital onboarding of our customers in our platforms.
  • Provide analytical support through reporting/data extraction
  • Manage schedule and deadlines
  • Coordinate and schedule project meetings with internal / external stakeholders and vendors, diverse stakeholder management, represent key project areas on calls and management meetings
  • Manage project milestones, deliverables, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure we keep on track
  • Budgeting for areas of assigned responsibility
  • Stakeholder management,
  • Building and owning working relationships to fully support project teams during analysis and planning stages
  • Brief clients on how the digital platforms work, ensuring all the delivery of the products.
  • Assist internal stakeholders and where applicable contact center with training and training documentation, acting as a point of contact for related enquiries where required
  • Contribution to company debriefs and conduct debriefs with internal and external stakeholders
About You


You have previous experience with IT solutions preferably Event Tech such as registration systems, event apps, virtual events, CMS, data warehouse, etc.

You have an awareness of data privacy, GDPR and info security principles


You also have the project management skills to plan and deliver the onsite experience ensuring the attendee experience is seamless from start to finish.

You have excellent communication skills and client success management.


You will be a confident manager, tenacious relationship builder, team player and problem solver taking responsibility for this key part of our event experience.
