About the role:


‍ About the role

  • The Mews Point of Sale solutions is central to our overall business strategy and serves restaurant in small hotels, big hotels, and hotel chains. In the near future it will also extend to inroom dining and other food experiences. Restaurant administration is done via web, and food orders can be placed via mobile and tablet.


As the POS Principal Designer, you will hold a vital role within our team, working across multiple platforms including web, tablet, and mobile to unify design principles and experiences.

You'll not only handle designing, but you'll also act as a mentor for your team, guiding them towards the best possible solutions.


You will leverage and contribute to our Mews Design System, making sure our interfaces have a great quality, are consistent and easy to use.


You'll raise the bar for quality in everything you design and be a key communicator within your team and across the company.

Requirements:


We are looking for:


  • Unify design principles, experience, and visual aspects across web, tablet and mobile.
  • Participate in the organisation and conduct of customer research. Know your user
  • Explore and create outstanding solutions using whatever means necessary. This will likely include collaborating with other designers and researchers.
  • Mitigate business risk by validating solutions with actual customers. This can be done by you or delegated, but as with everything your team does you'll be responsible for the outcomes.
  • Work with and contribute to our Mews Design System to create beautifully consistent interfaces. This will be especially important given the broad scope and challenges with Mews POS presents.
  • Pay off UX debt This means clever discovery and prioritisation.
  • Be the living standard for quality within your team and the company. Market your awesome work and evangelise quality at every turn. We expect your designs to inspire absolutely everybody.
  • Collaborate with other designers daily. We don't believe in designing in siloes. Having an amazing designer across everything works best, and that amazing designer is you
  • Share who you are and what you do with other designers at Mews. We are one family and we learn by sharing.
  • Lastlygrow We want you to get better all the time. Stay close to your Director and other designers. Care for and help each other.
You'll be a great match if you bring these:

  • 5+ years of experience in product design, handling various complex projects, and demonstrating leadership skills.
  • Deep expertise in guiding and mentoring team members.
  • A history of successful alignment of design processes with business and tech goals, contributing significantly to the creation of wellrounded digital products.
  • Proven ability to create user interfaces that combine functionality with intuitive design, using user data and results from usability tests to guide decisionmaking.
  • Exceptional skill in explaining design decisions and their impact on the final product, fostering A shared understanding across diverse teams.
  • Strong usercentric mindset, with the capacity to turn user data into impactful design enhancements, supported by excellent analytical skills.
  • Experience leading multiple concurrent design projects, ensuring timely delivery without compromising the quality of user experiences.
  • Proactive in fostering A solid design culture within A team, demonstrating leadership by influencing and inspiring colleagues.
  • A record of design contributions that have led to substantial improvements in user experience and product quality.
