The key objective of this role is to support the Head of Business Operations EMEA to oversee the operations of a small but steadily growing team, supporting the delivery of customer services, facility management, HR, health & safety, information processing systems, quality procedures and processes in liaison and co-ordinated with the Operations, HR, IT and respective service Departments at Head Office.


As the Business and Indirect Tax Manager you will ensure that adequate and suitable resources are maintained to meet the business growth objectives.


Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of AVASK ES operations in collaboration with Head Office.
  • Managing a small team.
  • Ensure compliance with international indirect tax law.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations in Spain and assess their impact on the business, providing guidance and recommendations to senior management.
  • Focus on endofmonth/year closing, preparing periodical profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cashflow statements, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Support leadership in defining objectives and strategy and executing initiatives.
  • Build new service operating units, such as Accounting & Tax teams.
  • Ensure agreed procedures are documented for all activities and adhered to in accordance with the AVASK Group QMS.
  • Ensure client service levels are maintained.
  • Overall performance of AVASK ES and report back to Head of Business Operations EMEA, Operations, Head Office.
  • Support the team on achieving the business development objectives.
  • Monitor and handle HR matters in liaison with the Head Office HR and Recruitment team.

Specific aspects to cover:


  • Ensuring that the company has the adequate and suitable resources to complete its activities whilst working alongside HR and other Managers.
  • Organising and coordinating operations in ways that ensure maximum productivity.
  • Supervising the work of employees and providing feedback and counsel to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support staff and liaise with HR to support where required.
  • Organising training of new and existing staff.
Maintaining relationships with partners/vendors/suppliers.

  • Gathering, analysing and interpreting external and internal data and writing reports.
  • Assessing overall company performance against objectives
  • Monitor and report on agreed KPIs.
  • Ensuring adherence to legal rules and guidelines.
  • Ensuring that the premises are properly maintained and cleaned, and that adequate fire prevention and security systems are in place.
  • Managing the procurement of equipment, supplies and services within target budgets.
  • Arranging appropriate maintenance for office equipment.
  • Monitoring client satisfaction, record, investigate, and respond to complaints.
  • Highlighting opportunities for improvement and risks.
  • Assisting with the internal auditing of systems and processes.

Key skills, knowledge and experience:


  • Educated to Degree Level in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field; advanced degree or certification in taxation preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Spanish tax laws and regulations, particularly in the areas of indirect tax.
  • Proven experience as business and indirect tax manager or relevant role minimum 5 years.
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English.
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and concepts.
  • Strong technical accounting skills.
  • Experience with preparing financial reports, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • SAGE experience.
  • Experience in ISO 9001 management systems an advantage.
  • Adept in the use of CRM/other business systems.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, databases and information systems
  • Ability to handle confidential information and with discretion.
