Sales and Business Development Director, Southern Europe and Int'l Markets (M/F/d)

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales activities within the assigned territory to grow the specific laboratory services business
  • Consistently meet or exceed quota
  • Develops and executes a territory plan that includes prioritized regional goals
  • Analyzes data to identify viable opportunities
  • Coordinates and utilizes available resources
  • Takes lead role in mobilizing resources in support of customer needs
  • Uses resources in a smart and impactful way
  • Digs beneath surface and seeks resources that address the core of an issue
  • Aligns with others in overlapping territories
  • Collaborates with internal teams and crossfunctional partners to advance programs and initiatives
  • Develop and manage target key accounts to produce long term, consistent, revenue growth
  • Responsible for understanding customer's current and emerging needs, providing trends and observations to leadership for market evaluation
  • Support preparation of market, industry, and competitive analyses through voice of customer and voice of sales; support development and execute strategies to penetrate new markets and emerging programs
  • Plan, prepare and execute customer engagements and call planning
  • Participate in relevant trade shows, industry days, and develop seminars/workshops to stay abreast of customer strategies, goals, and objectives and understand the competition
  • Develop territory plans and run execution with highest levels of accountability
  • Perform quarterly business review meetings with commercial leadership

Qualifications

  • A PhD or advanced degree in Life Sciences with a focus on and/or degree in biochemistry or related field. An MBA is a plus
  • 5 years of experience in working in a directsales and/or sales technical support role with extramural or complex teams required
  • Expert experience in leading and completing commercial contracts, primarily in the commercial segments Biopharma and applied markets but also with universities and other academic research institutes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; will be frequently required to give presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Must be able to understand and present on the technology advantages using case studies
  • Experience working with crossfunctional teams both internally and externally to manage and implement complex partnerships
  • Excellent analytical skills; able to synthesize data into insightful information
  • Attention to detail; accuracy
  • Ability to own and manage multiple key accounts and meet sales forecast
  • Strong time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead sales situations within complex and nonlinear environments
  • Experience in active prospecting using platforms like LinkedIn, Global Data, etc.
  • Ability to influence nondirect reports and crossfunctional partners within a complex internal sales and support matrix
  • Selfstarter capable of working independently
  • Entrepreneurial by nature, selfsufficient and a great team player as well
  • Must be willing and able to travel
  • Fluent in English is required; additional languages are helpful
