The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks.

Overview of role-
Responsibilities:
  • Understand the Spanish grid connection processes, transmission, and distribution networks, including compliance with the Spanish Grid Code
  • Take a leadership role in designing substations for renewable energy projects, collaborating with diverse teams and defining technical specifications for contractors
  • Provide essential technical support, risk assessment, and client/stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle to ensure success and feasibility.
  • Provide engineering expertise throughout the entire substation lifecycle, from feasibility studies to construction and commissioning monitoring
  • Conduct thorough power system analyses, including load flow, fault, and transient simulations, to assess substation performance and reliability under various conditions
  • Review engineering documents and schematics to ensure compliance with technical specifications, standards, permits, and industry best practices
  • Stay current with international and local standards and regulations, ensuring that all substation designs and specifications meet these requirements and preparing documentation for regulatory approval
  • Offer technical support and guidance throughout the construction and commissioning phases of substation projects
  • Review construction documentation, including quality plans, RAMS, and associated documents, and conduct site visits to ensure compliance with design, standards, and industry best practices while identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Oversee issue resolution, support punchlist development, and participate in Factory Inspection Tests for electrical substation equipment, along with reviewing commissioning protocols and documentation
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline; relevant master's degree is not mandatory but preferable.
  • Direct experience in designing of highvoltage substations, with proved experience in Spain.
  • Experience in overseeing the construction and commissioning phase having spent time on site (either site based on through site visits).
  • Proficiency in substation design software (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong understanding of substation equipment, power transformers, circuit breakers, and protective relays.
  • Experience in development and assessment/review of specifications for high voltage AIS/GIS substations and associated primary/secondary equipment, encompassing layout, equipment selection, and protection schemes.
  • Familiar with grid compensation equipment (capacitor banks, STATCOM, synchronous compensators, harmonic filters, etc).
  • Familiar with international and local standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Proactivity and problemsolving attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal
