Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders
The Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders group at VHIR is composed of clinical, translational and basic researchers. The
group has three laboratories (Sarcomas lab, Neural Tumors lab and Rare Anemia Disorders lab) and three research
programs (Personalized Medicine, Clinical Trials Unit and Stem Cell & Advanced Therapies).

The main goals of our
Personalized Medicine Program are: 1) to facilitate access to novel therapies for children and
adolescents with cancer where standard treatment has failed and 2) to improve outcomes of childhood cancers through
the implementation of personalized medicine, based on the improved molecular understanding of tumor biology which
guides combination trials against multiple hallmarks of cancer and improve access to targeted therapies at relapse.


JOB DESCRIPTION
personalized medicine project ("SEHOP-PENCIL study - Personalized medicine for cancer in children in Spain"),
including new patient admission and samples distribution among 12 partners. In addition, he/she will be in charge of
project clinical, biological and genomic data collection in a database and the preparation of results reports. Furthermore,
she/he will give support to other ongoing Personalized Medicine projects of the group.


Education and qualifications:


Required:
-

Bachelor's Degree in Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Genetics, Medicine, etc.)

  • Fluency in Spanish and English

Desired:
-

Master's degree in science.

  • Training in project coordination and data recording.

Experience and knowledge:


Required:

Highly organized and strong problem-solving skills (autonomy and proactive)

  • Experience managing databases.
  • Excellent teamwork and relational skills.
  • Experience in translational and/or clinical research (research projects or clinical trials).
  • Intermediate/high knowledge of English language.

Desired:

Knowledge of REDCap database.

  • Knowledge of childhood cancer biology.
  • Knowledge of next generation sequencing techniques.

Main responsibilities and duties:

Project coordination and new patient registration.

  • Distribution and handling of samples among collaborating centers.
  • Data collection and database maintenance.
  • Elaboration of result reports.
  • Participation in translational and clinical research projects and international collaborations.
