We are seeking a talented and motivated
Proposal Writer to join the
International Pre-Award Unit of Fundació Sant Joan de Déu, for the development of International and European competitive proposals.

You will be key for the implementation of a sustainable model for boosting the internationalisation of the IRSJD's research groups, especially those working in the Neurosciences and Precision Medicine in Rare Diseases programmes and consolidation of SJD Brain Initiative but not only.


The International Pre-Award Unit


Our team provides comprehensive support and management services to Principal Investigators from Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu (IRSJD) and other researchers from Sant Joan de Déu ecosystem to secure European and International competitive funding through identification of project ideas, deep knowledge of the funding Ecosystem and preparation of project proposals.


Main responsibilities:


  • Deep knowledge on the interests, ideas and project portfolio of the IRSJD's research groups, especially Neurosciences and Precision Medicine in Rare Diseases programmes, oversighting its alignment with the trends of funding agencies.
  • Detailed analysis of the European and International funding framework in line with the capacities and interests of the research groups and establishment of priority project ideas.
  • Together with the Pre-Award team, support in the planning and methodological design of research and innovation proposals with the collaboration of a Principal Investigator and other members of the research group.
  • Support IRSJD's research groups, especially those working in the Neurosciences and Precision Medicine in Rare Diseases programmes, in the preparation (writing) of European and international competitive research proposals.
  • Representing the interest of IRSJD's research groups in working groups, networks, actions and initiatives considered strategic opportunities for both the Institution and the researchers.
  • Attendance at events to establish new collaborations and contact with representatives and national contact points, especially in the framework of the preparation of a proposal.
  • Participate in public consultations of the European Commission for the definition of documents, programmes and calls for proposals. Establish collaborations that allow entry into new projects and consortia.

Generalitat de Catalunya (Departament de Salut) - SLT028/23/00029- Doctoral degree biomedical sciences

  • A thorough knowledge of EU R&D funding programmes is essential, with special emphasis on Horizon Europe.
  • Knowledge and experience in writing and managing competitive collaborative international research and innovation proposals, especially Horizon Europe proposals.
  • Experience with entire proposal development process, including impact section.
  • High level of spoken and written English (C1 level or equivalent). Fluency in Spanish.
  • Dynamic, highly motivated, creative and proactive person with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build a fluid relationship with different types of collaborators and actors in the ecosystem.
  • Communication and organizational skills.

The following qualifications will be valued:

  • PhD in neuroscience, neurobiology or related fields.
  • Good knowledge on both fundamental and clinical neuroscience, knowledge on paediatric neurosciences.
  • Knowledge of other programmes (EU4HEALTH, DIGITAL).
  • Attitude for Project Management.
  • Experience in the development of operational plans, risk management strategies, sustainability plans, governance models and business models.
  • Knowledge of the local, national and international healthcare ecosystem and the main actors in these ecosystems.
