Mott MacDonald are seeking senior mechanical engineers to join our growing energy team in the UK, Italy (Genoa) and Serbia (Belgrade).

The senior mechanical engineer will provide project management and mechanical engineering in the delivery of Owner's Engineer, Lenders Engineer or Detail Design roles on large scale thermal power generation projects.

As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be an integral part of a large multidisciplinary, multi-skilled team of engineers working on thermal power generation projects worldwide.

The clients and projects can be located anywhere in the world, so the role is challenging and interesting.

Our work is varied in its nature and the role will primarily include Feasibility Studies, Owner's Engineering (technical specifications, tenders' evaluations, design review, construction supervision, project management), Technical and Advisory for investors and developers.

International travel will be a part of the role, including site visits and client meetings. There will be opportunities for short-term and long-term assignments.

We are looking for a motivated person with a genuine passion for excellence and client relationships, with the following attributes:

Experience in:
Assessment of designs, operational data;
Evaluation of O&M and LTSA for CCGTs;
Owner's Engineer consultancy services;
Technical Advisory services, lenders due diligence and acquisition due diligence
MSc or BSc in Mechanical Engineering (or other relevant);
Professional experience in the thermal power generation industry, ideally with a mix of EPC contractor, OEM, and consultancy background;
Experience of development, procurement, construction, standard contract forms, project management and team leadership;
Proactive, with the ability to work independently and with large teams;
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and attention to detail;
Fluent in English.
Mechanical detailed design experience of CCGT power plants;

- hands-on experience in commissioning, control processes and operating and maintenance of thermal power plants in the UK and overseas;

Fluency in Italian, additional language(s) desirable (French, Spanish or Portuguese).
Supporting project managers and project principals as part of multidisciplinary project teams;
Mentoring and development of junior engineers;
Supporting Account leaders in business development and tendering;
Contribute to the preparation of proposals and/or cost estimates for energy projects
Contribute to the tender preparation and assessment process for owner's engineer projects
Providing engineering input into projects at all stages (development, procurement, design, construction, operation, sale and acquisition)
Leading technical discipline meetings;
Project management and budget control;
Attend project sites to:

- coordinate and witness testing and commissioning activities;
- perform quality assurance inspections of mechanical equipment during the installation phase;

Attend factory acceptance testing for mechanical equipment and provide technical reporting on observations;
Ability to work on international projects and understand and manage country and regionspecific factors
Flexibility to travel internationally;
Support in the management of interfaces between the main contractors
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients
