What to Expect

The Project Engineer role is multi-faceted, but has a primary focus of delivering engineering expertise to larger battery storage projects: providing support to the business team during the sale and specification phase, leading the design and permitting phase and assisting with installation and commissioning.

In the role of Project Engineer you provide a key link between Tesla products/projects in the region and the engineering and manufacturing teams based in the US.

It is vital that you have the skills and ability to work on a wide range of engineering issues and the knowledge and experience to operate with a high degree of self-sufficiency.

A familiarity with commercial / industrial electrical installations and of the electricity distribution system is required to perform this role.

Experience of engineering project delivery and a degree of practical experience is also highly beneficial.

As well as possessing solid electrical engineering knowledge, the broad scope of this role also requires a strong understanding of a wide range of engineering fundamentals.

What You'll Do

Provide engineering support to the Tesla Energy team during the sales and specification process:

Visit and evaluate potential project sites
deliver design and integration recommendations
Meet with customers / installers as required
Comment on proposals and contracts as required
Provide the Tesla lead during the design and permitting phase of a project:
Review/provide final system designs (electrical, mechanical, control & data)
Produce any documentation required to facilitate the safe and effective delivery of a project
Support the approval / permitting process of new projects
Liaise with contractors, installers and customers as required
Contribute to the installation and commissioning phase of projects:
Liaise with contractors, installers and customers as required
Work alongside Tesla service engineers during on site commissioning
Assist with programming and testing of system controls

Work with the wider Tesla Energy team to:

Gather and disseminate the technical and regulatory requirements of the local market
Provide feedback from the design, installation and commissioning process

What You'll Bring

Degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering; or demonstrate equivalent experience of exceptional ability within electrical engineering
Relevant work experience including significant firsthand experience of electrical design, system deployment, test and commissioning
Knowledge of local codes and regulations; Experience of commercial / industrial electrical installations and of the electricity distribution system in the region
Knowledge of: battery systems; power conversion; MV/HV systems; IT and data communication systems; and control systems
An ability to prioritize and execute many tasks in parallel. An excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce clear and concise written documents and diagrams
Professional fluency in English and the language(s) of the assigned region, additional languages a plus
