Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently recruiting for an Intern for
Civil Engineering department in our Madrid office

Wood is looking for students interested in accessing the professional world through external academic internships and offers the possibility to put into practice and expand the knowledge acquired during their academic career

Students will get the opportunity to enter in the upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas industry as we look to develop your background in conceptual engineering studies, pre-FEED, FEED, EPC and PMC projects

The role is offered to fit in with study timetables and course obligations

  • Perform structural and civil calculations like foundation calculations, piling, retaining walls, steel structures, blast resistant buildings, etc
  • Review of geotechnical reports
  • Prepare contract requisitions for civil and structural work on assigned projects
  • Prepare Job Specifications for civil and structural work on assigned projects
  • Prepare calculation reports, steel structures, concrete structures, and foundations
  • Prepare base plate templates for commons HEA/HEB profiles using IdeaStatica
  • Check and comment of steel shop drawings
  • Check and comment of precast concrete shop drawings

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Last academic year or master's degree in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Spanish language at native level
  • Excellent command of English
  • Microsoft Office proficient, including strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Academic situation that allows signing an agreement with a university or training center
  • Availability in the morning (daily dedication depending on the academic situation)
  • Able to manage own time and ability to prioritise at busy times
  • Creative and practical
  • Adaptable and persevering
  • Interested in pursuing a career within engineering
  • Work well with other people
  • Good communication skills within a team and externally
  • Development experiences and challenges.
  • Motivated in bringing new perspectives and injecting fresh ideas into our department processes
  • Available immediately

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Spanish and International Standards and Codes (Código Estructural, CTE,
  • EuroCodes, AISC, ACI, etc.)
  • Knowledge of StaadPro and/or SAP2000
