The Institute


The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries.

The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.


In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission.

The role


The postholder will be working with the team of the Protein Technologies Unit (ProTech Unit) to manage and support the production and characterization of recombinant proteins related to the newly granted Horizon project and will be expected to operate a broad spectrum of instrumentations necessary for protein expression, purification, and biomolecular interaction analysis.

The role will also involve the development and implementation of new service and quality control protocols.

In addition, the postholder will respond to requests and bookings through our tracking system (AGENDO), and place orders through the institute's purchasing system.


About the Protein Technologies Unit**The ProTech Unit is part of the institute's Core Technologies Programme and a member of the European excellence alliances of core facilities Core for Life and P4eu. We are in the PRBB building and we provide researchers at CRG, external academic institutions, and private companies with a state-of-the-art technology platform and broad knowledge and expertise to perform DNA assembly, protein production and interaction analysis of biomolecules. Some of the equipment are endowed with various degrees of automation. The Unit is a team of 6 Protein Specialists, that contribute to high impact research, as shown in recent publications (e.g., Nat Commun. 2022, 2020, 2019, 2018, Science 2016).


Whom would we like to hire?**
Professional experience

Must Have

  • Masters in areas such as Biophysics, Biochemistry, or a related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Indepth understanding of protein science
  • Experience working with AKTA and unicorn software
  • At least 3 years' experience in recombinant protein production
  • Experience working with one or more Biophysical instrumentations e.g., Biacore T200, Monolith NT115, Mass photometry, SEC-MALS

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have**- Ph.
D. certificate preferred but not required

  • Experience in working on the production of viral proteins and antibodies
  • Experience in using the liquid handling robotic platform for protein screening assays

Languages

  • Strong verbal and written communication in English

  • Ability to work efficiently and independently or as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in handling diverse daily tasks in a dynamic environment with frequently changing priorities

The Offer - Working Conditions**-
Contract duration**: 4 years
