Job Description Summary:

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager to lead the SMB Integration Engineering team, as part of our Global Professional Services (GPS) team focusing on EMEA small to medium businesses.

As an outstanding technical leader you will lead PayPal's EMEA SMB Integration team by forming partnerships with commercial and operational teams.

You will have the responsibility of building, maintaining, and developing a team of Integration Engineers and working directly with Sales Leadership to achieve Sales & Company goals.

We are seeking a dynamic individual with fast innovative thinking skills, exceptional technical skills, and a solid business acumen.

In this role, you will lead teams, set strategy, and participate across the organization with key internal stakeholder teams such as Product, Engineering, GPS, Customer Success, and Sales.

Close collaboration is a must. This position requires ~10% travel.

The Head of European SMB Integrations for our Global Professional Services (GPS) will lead an assigned GPS team based in Europe and is responsible for supporting the pre-sales through to launch stages for the EMEA Inside Sales merchant portfolio.


Specifically, you will manages a team of customer facing Integration Engineers that support merchants onboarding across the range of PayPal's suite of Products via direct integrations, or via a third-party partner such as a shopping cart or payment service provider (PSP).


As part of the GPS leadership team, you will partner closely with their peers and other GPS leaders to continually enhance and promote the services provided to delight PayPal's customers and stakeholders.


Leadership Responsibilities:


  • Lead a GPS team, forming strategies that recognise the need of the EMEA SMB segment, but remaining sensitive to the broader PayPal integration model.
  • Provide visible people leadership, promoting the succession and development of PayPal's best talent in line with its people values.
  • Champion 'best in class' and quality by collaborating with global peers across GPS, Product and Go-ToMarket teams to develop technical solution patterns and practices for new (and existing) PayPal products. Ensure integrations reflect evolving industry trends.
  • Champion 'best in process' and efficiencies by challenging the status quo and introducing new and scalable approaches across the team.
  • Target, track, and report team performance. Use multiple sources of data to refine execution and resourcing plans to reflect business priorities. Ensure support contacts are resolved in accordance with service levels and commitments.
  • Develop a team to contribute to many projects across the organisation to bring the technical aspects of our customer interactions to our Product & Engineering organisation.
  • Mentor and guide members of the team as they work on their solution engagements.

Required skills and experience:


  • Experience of leading customer facing technical teams and partnering with internal organisations. Can demonstrate strength in driving business results through influence and motivating reports.
  • Strong technical background with 7+ years of work experience in technical delivery / integrations, product development or technical support roles.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders at multiple levels, across different functions and locations. Navigates organisational boundaries and cultures to execute for their customers.
  • Customer focused and change agent with detailed understanding of how to inspire teams to create innovative, customer driven solutions and the critical commercial value this provides.
  • Passion to secure, retain and develop talent.
  • Inspirational Coach. Willingness to share expertise and formally introduce new methodologies to drive efficiencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience in payment processing and/or commerce is highly desirable.
  • Occasional travel for wider team and leadership meetings
