The Department for Business & Trade (DBT) is an international economic government department securing UK and global prosperity by promoting and financing international trade and investment and championing free trade.


The intern will support the Europe Technology Campaign Manager in the planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of a range of different projects across Europe.

The UK tech industry is a key growth sector, growing at a faster rate than the UK economy and maintaining its lead as one of the world's premier locations for tech of all kinds.

The Technology Campaign focuses on core UK strengths and technologies where the UK is a global leader and supports UK priorities in exports, investment and trade policy.


This represents a great opportunity for the successful applicant, to gain Project Management experience in one of the priority campaigns across Europe.

Roles and responsibilities:

_**- Project support - Working with the Technology Campaign Manager to support the delivery of pan-European Trade & Investment focused activities and campaigns.


  • Event management and programme coordination of activities to support European markets.


  • Administrative support

  • Provide a forwardlook in respect of technology activities across the DBT Europe Region, ensuring that local and regional events are up to date and that reports adequately capture activities and evaluate metrics against campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM databases, track business interactions, and support the evaluation and reporting, of the outcomes of activities.
  • Market research, including UK & European businesses
  • Support Tech Campaign Manager in doing research to identify future areas and opportunities for the DBT Europe Region.
  • Support Tech Campaign Manager in delivering Tech specific learning and development initiatives across the region.
  • Communications support (working with DBT Europe Comms & Marketing team), developing content to support internal communications and official briefings.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • Fluency at C1 level in English (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*).
  • Currently studying at a Spanish University where the student will remain in the same course or field of study for the duration of the internship period.
  • High level of motivation and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dynamic and hardworking, with ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative when required
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point)
  • Able to work under pressure and to juggle competing of deadlines.
  • Expertise in using social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn etc.), and using MS Teams (ideally within a business environment)
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Fluency at B2 level in Spanish (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*).
  • Keen interest in technology
  • Experience in building and maintaining successful working relationships and delivering projects or events.

This is an internship position for curricular or extra-curricular credits as part of a student ́s current university degree. This is a part-time internship offer of 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. The working hours are 25 hours per week.
