Applied Scientist, ATS Machine Learning & Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled Applied Scientist to join our team at Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) in Europe. As an Applied Scientist, you will be responsible for developing and researching machine learning solutions and algorithms for core planning systems, as well as other applications within ATS.

Our transportation systems handle millions of packages worldwide every day, providing a world-class customer experience from online checkout to delivery. Our software systems use tens of thousands of signals every second to make business decisions impacting billions of dollars annually.

You will focus on improving the efficiency and sustainability of our transportation network, which includes services that integrate with a network of small and large carriers worldwide and manage business rules for millions of unique products.

We are looking for a Machine Learning Scientist with a strong academic background in machine learning, time series forecasting, and/or optimization. Experience in building models for business applications, programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python, and experience with Unix/Linux is a plus.

About the Team

The EU ATS Science and Technology team owns scalable algorithms, models, and systems that improve customer experience in middle-mile transportation. We work backwards from Amazon's customers to make transportation faster, cheaper, safer, more reliable, and ecologically sustainable.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and research machine learning solutions and algorithms for core planning systems and other applications within ATS.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features and services.
Analyze complex data sets to identify opportunities for improvement and develop data-driven solutions.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and apply them to real-world problems.

What You'll Need

PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field.
Experience in building models for business applications.
Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related language.
Experience with Unix/Linux.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience.

Location: Luxembourg, European Union.

Type: Full-time.
