Job Description Summary:

The Onshore Wind Health & Safety Lead is responsible for providing an interface between engineering, operations and EHS to ensure design safety risks are appropriately considered not only during design but also as a closed loop system with feedback from the field.


The role supports both fixed facility and distributed operations (projects and services) and will provide operational safety input into Lean activities as well as lead dedicated risk reduction workstreams, participate in design reviews and support reactive activities such as TIL/ETC issuance.


The individual will have solid understanding of H&S legislation applicable to our products and be able to provide domain technical expertise and leadership necessary to drive compliance, meet customer expectation and achieve health and safety excellence for field operations.


This role will also be responsible for driving excellence and safety culture change across the organization, leveraging human organization performance/human factor competency, partnering cross functionally, to support the Safety by program and drive sustainable improvement while supporting other EHS activities as assigned.


They will also provide input and support the wider Onshore Wind EHS team as we work to build one successful organization.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of Product Concern Reports coming from the field, and rank according to the defined risk criteria, pushing those relevant cases to the SAFER case stream, ensuring risk modelling is carried out and preventive/ mitigative measures are correctly addressed.
  • Participate in the development and approval of all EHS Technical communication (TIL/ETC/TWP and WDI) to contain risks associated with product concerns, for both internal and external audiences, depending on the case.
  • Participate as the EHS focal point for the New Product Introduction process, ensuring that the future fleet models are compliant with relevant legislations on the markets we operate.
  • Be able to provide technical competency to support risk reduction for HROs Workstreams relevant to the business environment. Guide business unit to implement measures on the relevant activity types, targeting to reduce severe cases over time.
  • Engage with Engineering to ensure that any changes on the existing fleet triggers updates on both Electrical Service Bulletin and relevant LOTO forms. Coordinate development and maintain database with all applicable LOTO, ensuring accurate information is available to the field technicians throughout the globe.
  • Serve as a coach and technical expert cross functionally, in order embed EHS expectations across the organization, building a sustainable EHS culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or technical equivalent from an accredited college or university, or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of solid, demonstrated technical domain associated with highrisk operations and risk reduction.

  • Demonstrated experience leading change or cultural development.
  • Able to coach and support key influencers to drive EHS compliance and the reduction of risk through team engagement and help develop an organizational culture that prioritizes EHS.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues with competing priorities
  • Deep knowledge of GE's EHS programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate and drive change and interact crossfunctionally
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Trained to Global Wind Organization (GWO) basic safety standard.
  • Additional language skills.
